Y'know, all of the negative commentary that retailers were throwing about before launch (and still now after launch) purely to put a damper on the success of the launch has me almost hoping for the Go! to suceed. Don't get me wrong, there are many fundimental flaws with the Go!'s execution of what they're trying to achieve (and I speak as someone who supports digitial distribution, for all of the flaws that PSN/XBLA demonstrate very well, fixed pricing, distribution controlled centrally by one company etc.), but the covert attempts by retailers to sabotage the Go! is really irksome. There always seems to be at least one news story on Eurogamer about Game/ShopTo/Chips/X retailer offering some 'insight'.

Yeah does seem like they are all in a strop, suppose the current climate doesnt help either. I suppose Sony and other publishers could make PSN game cards and sell those to retail, then everyone could be happy?
Like how Patapon 2 was sold in North America as a boxed download code.
Just because PSP Go! is download only doesnt mean retail has to be pushed out completely or even feel like they are, they should start talking about ways to make improvements and stop moaning about it and simply not stocking it.

Its good for development studios as it takes out the second hand market. If this thing takes off the way Sony want it too we may not see so many studios going bust over the next year. Dont get me wrong I`m not anti second hand sales. Im a store manager for a large entertainment chain. As such a lot of my margin is made up by second hand sales, but lets face facts this is the way the market is going and all retailers need to jump on board and embrace new tech. Rather than bitch about it. The last real retailer cop a strop was Game group and the Warhawk release on the PSN, they got over that and now stock the GO! as well as network tickets. I hope we do soon.
