I saw a vid on Combat Training mode a bit back and it seems to be the kind of mode that fans will be up in arms about. However, for others who just want to access the decent weapons it will be a godsend. The ranking system in COD has always been meaningless/hacked anyway so it's no great loss if people can easily grind their way up.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure about those wager matches myself. I know I'm not that great at these games so it would be a waste of time for me to end up blowing everything I have against ppl who'll be playing it nearly every hr of every day.
Are they gonna pit ppl of similar ranks/skill against each other?

In an effort to save a bit of cash I have started a rental service for at least most stuff, if I enjoy it enough to buy it I will probably buy it via them as they seem to knock a bit off the rental price.
I enjoyed aspects of the previous COD games but I am not sure I would rank it above Battlefield. But there is something about this one that has peaked my interest and I am not even sure why. It just feels a little bit more intresting to me that MW2.

Do remember, that despite rendering the game at a lower resolution, it is one of the factors as to why the game can run at an almost persistent 60fps with a 66ms response time.
I would take what Infinity Ward done with their engine over anything Treyarch does in Black Ops that pushes those numbers down, except in certain instances like the rain drenched level in MW2.

I still don't understand why IW are peoples golden boys, yes they took the game in another direction after the endless WW2 games but that was more luck than judgement. TBH I don't really rate them in any higher bracket than Treyarch. if anything I really enjoyed both Spiderman WOS and the Bond QOS game and hoped some of the Bond remains in this. even more so after MW2 being pretty much a Bond style storyline.

as far as i know Modern Warfare 2 running at 60 fps was neither officially confirmed nor verified for the console versions. it's maybe peaking in at 60fps but the average framerate will most likely be 30-40 fps.
i would prefer a Call of Duty Black Ops running at 720p with stable 30fps anytime. 1024x600p on my 52" 1080p screen, even if well scaled-up, just doesn't look very hot.

Personally I always used to think IW were miles ahead of Treyarch until MW2. I know that I played a hell of a lot more WaW online than I did MW2 and I didn't feel even slightly compelled to finish MW2's single player.
I'll also say that I found the majority of the maps that shipped with MW2 sub-standard, so personally I'm quite looking forward to seeing Treyarch's next effort.

Treyarch were lagging behind until W@W. They really got so many things right with that game that you cant flame them for being second fiddle any longer.
Not least the campaign co-op and zombie mode but then there was a much stronger, darker narrative to the story mode as well, plus lots of nice little tweaks to the gameplay such as the revive ability on second chance (last stand). Such obvious little details but a great design.
I am really hyped for this, I think more so than MW2 and I've actually enjoyed that as well. I am actually starting to think this is going to be a better sequel to MW than MW2 was if that makes any sense at all.
