I don't thin there's any I'll give up on after the first play, there's a few I've been tempted to give up on straight but I'd rather give them a bit of time before deciding I hate them.

Most of these are this generation but off the top of my head I can think of these:
    Shemnue 1 & 2
    Halo 3
    Pure
    Tomb Raider: Underworld
    Resident Evil 5
    GTA 5
    Bangai-O Spirits

I really couldn't get on with the Shenmue games, I know everybody else loved them I just found them really bland!

Bangai-O did get better after spending time with it but it just don't have the same magic the older version had.

Halo 3 probably wasn't that bad but after being such a fan of the first game other two did seem poor in comparison.

^ Very true merf. But as of late I`ve found my self with more money as I`ve not been buying that many games unless I intend to play them from start to finnish.
Infact I`ve been replaying games I did enjoy. Last couple of weeks has been MGS4 and Uncharted.

The last six months has left me with dead space and fallout 3 unplayed, I`m on the last bit of uncharted at the moment and intend to play one of those two, but which one first?

Most demos of stuff coming out on PSN I play once then delete

          wanted demo
          wheelman demo
          countless others

Almost not worth the download. I don't really know why I bother downloading/installing them in the first place, knowing its going to be terrible.

Wow, this is embarrassing. This is only the ones that spring immediately to mind, mind you:

Left4Dead. Downloaded it for the free weekend, played about 30 minutes, realized that I'm actually bored of fighting zombies, removed it.

Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within. Played a couple of hours, then my Xbox locked up for some reason. I actually felt relieved, like the console had made the right choice for me.

Mario Kart 64: I bought this and F Zero X on the same day for the sole purpose of having games for a party. We put Mario Kart in, played it for a bit, and then decided to give F Zero a try. I realized, 8 years later when I was selling the system as a lot, that I'd never gone back.

Gundam 0079 (Dreamcast) ...wait, I move with the D pad and look with the analog stick that are both on the same side of the controller?

Killzone 2, this was another case of the console crashing on me and me deciding that it had made the right choice.

Advanced VG. Girls fighting in waitress outfits really isn't as fun as you'd think. Fortunately was only Y600 off PSN.

The Maid Uniform & Machinegun, The Daibijin, and a bunch of other Simple 2000 games, but honestly I don't feel bad about that; most of them were Y500-Y1000 used and I just wanted to see HOW bad they were.

Loads of them to be honest but the only ones i can think of at the moment are:

Guilty Gear Core - I want to like Guilty Gear games, but i don't really, so i only played this one night and its not been back in my Wii since

Disaster Day of Crisis - This may well be a good game but i've had enough of games hand holding and stupid tutorials so i gave up after the tutorial finished

Resident Evil 4 - there was nothing wrong with is per se, just didn't grab me

Bangai-o-spirits - I thought i'd really like this as i liked the DC version but i couldn't get into it

Other than that i'm a pretty good judge of what i like, and i try not to get caught up in the hype of new games, especially when they are a genre i don't like

Let's see, there's some stuff I bought because it was dead cheap like...

Thief: Deadly Shadows (Xbox) - played the first level, didn't go back, don't know why really, it wasn't bad or anything...
Second Sight (Xbox) - again, played the beginning, it seemed like an interesting story but the game just didn't click or something.
Hunter the Reckoning (Xbox) - thought it'd be a fun multiplayer, mindless, hack n' slash, but it was just boring crap.
Viewtiful Joe 2 (PS2) - started this game twice I think, only played to first save point or something, again don't know why. I finished the first one and liked it.

                    Then there was:

                    Zelda: Twilight Princess
(Wii) - played the beginning, haven't gone back. I thought I was a Zelda fan...

Oh boy, am I gonna hear about this...

                    Ico
(PS2) - I've started it twice or thrice but have never bothered to play it further than the beginning...

I think the main reason for this kind of behaviour for me is, that I might get too many games at a time and something more interesting ends up taking up all my gaming energy. Don't know why I haven't gone back to them, but I can't really make myself play something just because I bought it...

Assassins Creed. Poor controls = not the win, so I turned it off.

Twilight princess is one of the most recent for me.

It was a mixture of disapointment of the Wii in general, after picking one up with the game, and the rehashing of ideas Nintendo now seem happy to use in the series.

If you've never played a Zelda game before then I'm sure you would love it but if you're anything like me, you would wish that Nintendo do something new.

The only others that spring to mind is Parasite Eve 2, Blast Corps, V Rally and Guitar Hero all for being disappinting or just not intresting me at all.

Generally speaking I will always give a game a second chance. If I spend money on it, I'd hate to just sell it/trade it straight away, for that reason I can't include the new Bionic Commando, as although I'm not getting on with it, I gave it two "play sessions" before buying it. I really wish I'd waited for responses from people before buying it, but Rearmed was so amazingly good, I just had faith.

                            As for actually playing once...

Madworld; style over substance for me. A button masher with little variety, poor aspect ratio, graphically rough with jaggies all over the place. OTT violence and commentary, just not aimed at me.

Prince of Persia; the new one, not the older ones. Too easy, no challenge, repetitive combat...just didn't entertain me. Looks lovely, but I need more from a game than that.

Ico; not sure what happened, but it didn't click with me. Shadow of Colossus was amazing and I played that game first, but Ico, although lovely to look at and moody, just didn't click with me.

Undertow; even for free I couldn't be bothered. It's worrying people are spending time and money on this kind of crap just to attempt a quick buck on XBOX LIVE.

B&K Nuts & Bolts; wouldn't have bought this but a friend whose opinion I value was playing it during the same lull period that I ended up buying it. Absolute ****, no idea what anyone sees in this. It's clunky, boring, it loads too much etc...just didn't like it at all.

Having played this and completed it I can tell you are not missing out on anything! After Sands of Time I anticipated this would be more of the same but the diabolical new mature style Ubisoft adopted for the game and the repetitive nature of the combat absolutely ruined it for me. I kept playing in hope the game would get better as I got further, hah.

Thinking about it I only played the The Two Thrones once ever as well.

I play most RPGs only once, but that's mostly because they're not the sort of games you'd go out of your way to play a second time. Not unless you really have nothing else to do...

EDIT: I've just realised this is more about games you literally only place once and then dismiss. In that case Jet Set Radio on the DC for me. That one session was long and gruelling. I tried and tried to like that game, but concluded after several hours that it looked and sounded nice, but was horrid to play.
