Fully agree with you Mr Dogg, I'm not convinced this is a good change for the series.

Retro done a sterling job with Prime and from that footage, Team Ninja are making Viewtiful Joe.

As always though, I'll reserve judgment intill the game is released.

Like what? Only games I can remember them giving to other developers were the 2 Zelda games on GBA, and those were awesome.

This seems to be related to Samus's past but also related to Metroid fusion.

'Any objections lady' = Adam the CO that Samus talked of in Metroid Fusion

Yeah GBC, my bad. Starfox was debatable, I found some fun in it and others liked it. And I wouldn't say that it's as big a franchise as Metroid is. I never experienced the other 2, before my time .

That does look awesome. A little reminicent of Ninja Gaiden with the combat rolls and jump combos and stuff but I guess that's to be expected.

I've loved every single Metroid game since I first played Super Metroid so I see no reason to start hating now!!

2010 seems like bloody ages away

On Kotaku etc they're calling it a First and Third Person game.

                        That's what really worries me.

I don't want Ninja Gaiden with guns and a metroid skin, I want a game designed from the ground up to be metroid

The Prime games will be difficult to follow...

Longtime Metroid director Yoshio Sakamoto acknowledged that the long-rumored Metroid Dread is real and may some day be released.

                            Metroid Dread confirmed!

                              - Not Metroid Dread
                              - Reggie says “it’s going to be fabulous”
                              - Reggie hasn’t played has seen it
                              - Metroid Fusion dev working on the game
                              - Confirmed that Production Team 1 (Nintendo) involved (real deal guys)
                              - Adam Malkovich in the game
                              - Takes place in between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion
                              - Reconfirmed that the game explains a bit of Samus’ backstory
                              - Will explain what happened to Adam
                              - Playing Metroid Fusion will help players understand how the story in Other M will be like
                              - It’s linear (knowing that there is progression), but can explore side areas
                              - Will have the Metroid “feel”
                              - Character shown in trailer is one of Adam’s soldiers
                              - Other M means many things - Story will reveal these meanings
                              - Won’t be brutally difficult like in the Ninja Gaiden games - Developers taking into account that Metroid fans, new players
                              - Game will have action-oriented, faster-paced sequences
                              - Will also have exploratory portions
                              - It’s an entirely new game
                              - Yosuke Hayashi has worked on Ninja Gaiden for the DS
                              - Trailer shows Mother Brain attacking a Metroid
                              - Woman at the end of the trailer not Samus
                              - Game will “take you deeper into Samus’ story”
                              hrm...

Still mixed. Big worries about a character focused plot (Metroid is about exploration and discovering the story yourself), the way both the trailer and that text seem to emphasise different gameplay sections rather than a unified approach.

Metroid Prime was a risky but brilliant change for the series, remains to be seen if two different devs can pull off a reboot. I'm wary but I'll wait till there's decent gameplay footage.

Weren't the boobies a bit small for a team ninja game?
