    Final Fantasy XIV

Yes, fourteen! It's an MMORPG. There's a high quality trailer at the official website, or a low quality one in this post, for some reason. Why I feel the need to include it is beyond me. Enjoy!

    Platform: PS3, PC (Windows)
Release date: 2010 (probably fall, it's unlikely to release before XIII here!)

Its basically FFXI with new graphics, has all the art style and races from the game in place.

Regardless im hyped, and for the record he said some about it only being on console as ps3 title so fully expect PC version to come being the current ffxi base(and mostly likly the early takers) is 80% PC based with ps2/xbox taken the up the last 20%.

I do think they'd be better served not using the numeric titles for the MMO games, it just confuses the public.

When he said 2010 I knew something wouldn't be right. I first thought Versus was renamed but then the style and it clicked; MMO.

But yeah, if its big it will probably attract.

I was really taken aback at this announcement, didn't expect it at all. Really intrigued to see more details on it, being an ex-FFXI player myself (although if it doesn't come to PC at all then I won't be getting it anyway ).

I didn't watch the conference, from what you saw did it look like it was ffxi with just updated graphics or something new that just looked similar?

Also how much footage was shown?

It was a CG trailer, no gameplay footage.

I'm mega excited about this and will be migrating Rarehero over to it on day one.

                Can't wait!

It didn't look much like FFXI to me, but then I don't play FFXI. It's set in the same "period," if you will. It's more magic and monsters than sci-fi or steampunk.

It's my favourite type of FF setting, was kinda disappointed when "online" flashed up. Will buy though

Would that even work, with monthly fees?

Could this be the first console MMO that works ?

Most of us did this when ffxi came out in the US, we all managed to get it setup to work, you had to fudge your address a bit but the payment info could all be entered correctly, never had any issues with it.

As long as Square don't mess it up trying to aim it at WoW players it should be good.

Yeah, why would they want to emulate the most successful MMORPG there's ever been... I hope they copy the good stuff, whatever the good stuff is.
