Best Kinect related news so far! Next-Next-Gen delay!

I don't think people fully understand the potential impact this may have....

... on Gran Turismo 6's release date

I've heard rather conflicting things, in so much as another MS dude has said "we know it's an issue and we're working on it".

Really though, this is going to be an issue, the system maps your whole body and I don't see how it can do that if you are sitting on something.

What Kinect games have been shown where it would be sensible to sit down anyway? I didn't see the whole thing but from what I remember the Kinect games seemed to be about getting people out the sofa, just like Wii bowling etc.

I think the reports of a lack of precision put me off a bit. I know I'm enjoying Wii Sports Resort much more than the original Wii Sports and most of that comes down to the improvements afforded by Motion+.

I think Both Move and Kinect are doomed to fail though. I'm looking at having to fork out £100 to play Socom 4 with metroid Prime Corruption style controls and I've already got the camera. TBH I can't see me doing that despite being a bit of a Sony fan.

I think it was more the 'operating the dashboard and watching movies' side of it that had people worried.

Although I'd quite like to be sat down if I was playing Forza with it as well.

But would you like to be playing Forza with Kinect anyway? I mean I'd play mario Kart with a plastic wheel wrapped round a Wiimote but I don't want to play F1:CE or Gran Turismo like that!

I can honestly say that I don't think I'd like to drive standing up.

But yeah, general dashboard usage is the issue I'd guess.

Microsoft are listing this as $149.99 on their own website now... but still no proper announcement?

^Hopefully that doesn't translate to £149.99. There's no way that this should be in the same price bracket as the console itself.

I fear it will be, they are probably looking at how much a ps3 and move costs to buy and pricing to be slightly cheaper than a 360 and kinect

A lot of reports saying it actually costs $150 for them to make, which is causing a few arguments internally at Microsoft. Depends how much they want to "win" this. (whatever this is).

So they'd essentially be aiming to break even on these in the hope of using it to shift software/consoles... well, if you don't factor in marketing/shipping costs.

Any more than £99.99 and I'm not getting one, I'd gues I'm not alone either.

                            £150 = actually £200+ with a few games as well = **** off.

The fact that they've announced that Kinect games will be cheap suggests that the hardware won't be

The fact that they haven't announced a price also suggests it won't be. They learnt from Sony's 599 US Dollars conference. Sony did announce a price for their Move, but 39 dollars for the dildo isn't really expensive. Even the full pack is reasonably priced.

I think the aim here is to find a new target group. Which means a Slim + Kinect pack-in would likely be much cheaper than a stand alone unit.
