Shocking price for what your getting. Did no one tell Microsoft that the UK is still recovering from a recession?

I'll chip in with the very British; Bloody Hell!!

I wasn't going to buy one anyway but I can see it struggling at that price.

What the bigger joke, Natal or the price of the piece of **** ?

Oh dear ?129.99 for a glorified Eye Toy. Anybody looking to get into casual gaming is not going to shell out ?249.99 (inc the 4GB console) when a Wii can be had for ?129.99 new or under ?100 pre owned with loads of casual games all ready on the market (loads for under a tenner). Add the fact you have to be stood up to use it thats going to be annoying when you want to control the interface.

Nintendo must be laughing their ass off at this.

Yes but don't forget you can move the blades like Tom Cruise in Minority Report

If I didn't already own a 360 and wanted to buy one during the release of Kinect, then it would be good value for money. You never know, that particular bundle might sell well for Microsoft.....especially if they advertise it well.
And how much to add a hard drive to that? Can anyone that plays a substantial amount of games get by with 4GB?

Yeah, I get what you're saying but most potential buyers won't really take into account the add-ons they might need later on. From experience, even if they are told, they will just look at the initial (cheaper) price and think about buying the other stuff later.

I think if they advertise the £249.99 bundle well, it might end up doing well.

I imagine that given the initial sales of the new 360 the bundle will do well but by Xmas 2011 the idustry will have left it behind in pursuit of another gimmick.

It'll be as big a FAIL as the KIN, be dead by Christmas, retailers will be dropping the price and looking rid of it faster than a Band Hero Bundle with Tony Hawk Ride board thrown in for good measure.

Really though? I saw Tony Hawk Ride in HMV for ?24.99 last week and laughed, I don't think that will happen to Kinect any time soon. This is a full on peripheral with LOADS of new games heading its way, where as Ride was taking you for that if you bought it for ?99.99. Although loads of people were more than happy to buy Ride for ?99.99 at xmas, couldn't believe the ammount that game sold, same goes for Wii Fit Plus at ?89.99.
Kinect + a family game for ?129.99, with the correct marketing has great potential to hit familes where it hurts like every christmas, right in the money banks.

I don't want to jump around to play a game, too much like hard work. But if I did it would need to be maximum 99quid with a good game bundled and some games in development that would appeal to me.
Look how well the last expensive peripherals performed, DJ Hero and TH Skate.

Still not sure on Kinect but the pricing on the arcade Xbox 460S is good.

4GB internal memory means it's not gimped like the current versions, at least 4GB is useable for real things like game-saves, demos etc... Of course it isnt enough storage but for that price it's a good starting point.

If anyone wanted more storage quick they can always buy a 16GB USB stick as a memory card and get up to 16+4GB pretty easily and they're back where the original 360 was so many years ago. What I would like to see now is MS pricing on their internal HDD for the new unit, especially given it doesnt need that massive clip on caddy which was obviously gold-plated given the RRP on them.

I really think to everyone who is a current owner of a 360 none of this is that enticing but watch them stick a Kinect demo unit in a few stores in the run up to Xmas and have these cheap bundle units sitting next to it and all the parent/casuals are going to go nuts.

Hopefully the majority of early adopters will blaze the way to a price reduction as MS recoup the costs and hey if it bombs people will be trying to get rid of them cheap on Ebay anyway....

You see thats the problem. Microsoft quite arrogantly stated that the initial high price wouldnt matter too much as the hardcore gamers were the early adopters and would pay for it as they are the type who will bu new tech. Problem is MS has completely ignored the hardcore gamers and has targeted Kinect squarely at the casual market, who I dont think will pay for this if they dont already own an 360, yes its a nice gimmick but you can get a Wii for less than half the price which has a much much larger library of games.

I honestly think MS has well and truly shot themselves in the foot. I dont think its going to be a flop like the 32X, MS marketing and Dance Central will make Kinect sell quite a bit, but its no way going to be the success that MS is hoping for and I dont think it will sell more than Sony's Move controller. My only concern is that MS concentrates too much on Kinect and ignores its more traditional users, E3 added to my fears as other than Halo Reach, Gears 3 and Fable 3 MS had nothing to show for 360 other than Kinect mini games

Way too late to a game that Nintendo already won about 2 years ago.

Consumers will ask 'what can I do with this that I can't on Wii?'. Sports games, singing and dancing games and exercise stuff are available in abundance on the Wii right now and for much less than the cost of a 360+kinect. Who here intends buying it?
