130 quid is far to much for this device, the "motion mass market" could buy a wii for that.

the US price is $150, rip off UK ! thats £98.05 (todays exchange)

I'd say £60 is the maximum I'd pay for this glorified webcam.

Although, as JP said, I'm seeing very little reason to own one right now - even at that price.

Seeing how quickly games drop these days, and how even DJ Hero was price dropped by retailers less than 12 months on, I'm sure this will be within the lower price bracket sooner rather than later. There's certainly nothing to keep it at the higher price tag and retailers don't like having things hanging around on shelves any more because it's dead money they can ill afford in a recession (which, with all the bear talk this week, isn't going away any time soon).

Surely a joke price? ?60 surely?

Did they learn nothing from the Xbox?

US price won't include sales tax, the UK one will have VAT already factored in.

So not quite as severe as you say, but still rubbish.

Personally I was expecting £100 and planned to pick up Your Shape and Kinect Adventures at launch so a bundle with Adventures in at £130 seems reasonable to me.

Works out cheaper than the equivalent Move costs for two people, which I guess is where they'll be going with the pricing. Can't help but wonder if they've been steeled by peoples willingness to keep buying new consoles though.

That does seem to be the angle they're taking:

This look at Microsoft's internal take on the true cost of motion gaming, obtained by Kotaku, has its charm, but isn't completely anchored in reality.

                  It's an unfair comparison.

You don't HAVE to spent a fortune to get MOVE, only if you want multiple users will it cost a lot, just like the Wii did/does.

At least you have the choice, you can get MOVE into your home a lot cheaper, then add controllers at a later date whereas with this it's £129.99 (again, wow!) which "includes multiplayer" if you will.

Not completely sure that's going to help, there's a reason why negative advertising is generally avoided and that's because it often works against the people doing it.

Particularly with something like this where people are very happy to pick through those figures and add additional costs on the 360 side. How long before people start producing their own version of that?

Is this real/official? Been trying to find out.
                      It is on Kotaku.

                      Shocking tactics.

LOL at them including the balance board in their pricing.

It came across as desperate when Sony pulled a similar chart stunt a few years back comparing the price of the 3 consoles, and doesn't come off any better for Microsoft here.

From what I've seen so far, in order to get 'comparable' gameplay experiences to what Kinect offers in terms of family friendliness, you will need neither a Balance Board or 2 Navigation Controllers (I think every party game played with my Wii has always been Wii Remote only).

I keep saying in my head that I would buy one for under £100... but now, thinking about it... thats 3 (or even more if you start adding in games to the price of Kinect) full price titles - and to be honest... I would probably get more game time out of 3 games than I would ever out of any of the Kinect games. I think they're just not for me in all honesty. I'm all about the touchy feely. Plus its just me who plays games in this household so it'd be a total waste.

It's pretty much always a bad thing to do but when people are generally feeling negative about your product anyway the tactic of trying to make your competitor seem worse rather than make yourself seem better is a hell of a risk.

The £129.99 for Kinect on its own is rather expensive, no doubt. However, the bundle with the 4GB console is decent at £249.99. If I didn't already own a 360 and wanted to buy one during the release of Kinect, then it would be good value for money. You never know, that particular bundle might sell well for Microsoft.....especially if they advertise it well.

Personally, at the moment nothing really interests me apart from Child of Eden. Saying that though, I did enjoy playing Kinect Joy Ride and Adventures at E3.

The dashboard control stuff is cool but I don't really want to pay £129.99 just for that functionality. I'm not going to totally shun it though, I will make my decision much closer to the release date.

It comes down to the software and at the moment there is nothing on Kinect that interests me one iota.

Move on the other hand has Time Crisis, that is all I need for me to pre order.
