I wish that Nintendo hadn't pulled out of the CD-ROM add on for the Super Famicom with SONY.

See, I firmly believe that since SONY moved into the gaming industry that the market has been awash with sub-standard, generic crap. It's quite reminiscent of the ATARI VCS affair, though admittedly not quite as serious.

You can argue that Nintendo and Sega needed a kick up the backside, and that SONY have bought much-needed competition so everyone needs to work that much harder and that much better at making games. However, I can't remember a time when there were so many sequels, so many god-awful, movie-licensed games and so many ****ty clones on the shelves. And worst of all, people buy the crap, and keep buying it.

And the reason this problem is so rampant on the Playstation is because many of it's users are young, and bought into the brand because of it's 'cool' image. And most of these ****ty games on the Playstation - I'm sure the designers/publishers know what they are selling is crap, but it doesn't matter because if they market it as 'cool' people who want 'cool' will buy it.

Personally, I don't want a 'cool' console nor do I want 'cool' games. I only want a game to be fun, and in my opinion Nintendo is still the master at that.

Sorry, but those things werejust as prevalent in the Sega/Nintendo days before Sony introduced its hardware to the market.

It seemed like every week the Mega Drive had a new licensed platformer that was so crap it defied believe.

However, Sony's publishing arm were responsible for 2 of the worst film licensed games of all time in the 16-bit days (Last Action Hero and Cliffhanger).

In fact, it was next to impossible to get a proper RPG released in this country before Playstation and Final Fantasy VII, and I believe that the situation wouldn't be much better now if Sony hadn't marketed FF7 the way they did. True it was cynical (comprised completely of CG cut scenes) but a lot more RPGs see the British shores now.

What if the Jaguar took off?

          Or

If the Amiga 32CDX thingy replaced the PSone

WHAT IF ALTERED BEAST WAS THE GREATEST GAME IN THE WORLD HAH

          sorry

What if the Nomad was released in Europe, and had a good battery time, or was made smaller, hrrrm

Nintendo piss me off though. They are pretty much the industry "giants" when it comes to games/consoles, especially more so since Sega flashed half their assets down the pan. It wouldnt be so bad, but they always seem to **** about the European market (Ecard Reader was the last one i heard)

Saying that Nintendo are certainly shrude businessmen. For example the Gamecube may not sell well, in comparison, however, they are probably the only company making a profit on their console productions (Unlike Sony and MS who make a loss, and have to make it back on the games)

I heard at somepoint (possibly when the GC was/is retailling at ?129) They were making in the region of ?30 profit per unit.

And ofc, not everyone wants to play Fifa 2022 or some other lisences EA tripe
