Yeah most probably. I can't imagine most of the more mature (older) gamers would want to spend their time cheating and finding glitches, they just wanna enjoy the game. Whereas the youngsters just wanna do all sorts of crazy stuff even if that means ruining other peoples gameplay experience.

Not having a go at you, but then I didn't play Gears 2 online even a quarter as much as I did with the first game, I just didn't enjoy it at all.
That one still exists, but I mean the glitch where you can use the shield to climb through the closed doors at the top of either spawn area. If the opposition have fortified the only legit doorway with gas/frags, you've got little choice but to assault from the rear using this method... and I've had to do it a few times...

Yep, I used to use the codes from magazines when I was a kid but don't bother now. Same for most gamers I'd imagine.

I'm sure in game cheats have slowly died out since the unlockable cheats in Goldeneye

There is also piracy, which going on your idea of not spending your own money on the game, means the people who steal it don't care about games anywhere near as much as those who have paid £40 for it. If they are willing to ruin the industry, then I doubt they would care about cheating to ruin other players online experience, or even their own single player experience for that matter.

I don't mind silly cheats to mess around in single player like level select, debug mode, super cheats, God mode if you've already completed a game or don't enjoy the game so much but wanna mess around on it.

Cheating in multiplayer is just pathetic though. Specially when it comes to stuff like modded controllers.

The problem with multiplayer cheating is when it's part of the game itself.

Who here doesn't/didn't ban people from picking oddjob?

I did a song about cheating recently for a podcast, and it has been, by far, my least successful song in terms of interest and downloads for about 12 months. I don't think people really feel like cheating anymore, it's not really part of game culture. Boosting, and exploiting glitches in multiplayer perhaps, but cheating, I'm not so sure. Easier games and trophy/achivements probably have a lot to do with it. Sad really, just as cheating becomes a hot topic in general for the UK we seem to be stopping it in games, or at least moving from the cheatcodes of the past into the new breed of people who exist purely to ruin online multiplayer games.

It wasn't banned amongst my friends, it was frowned upon though.
Normally someone would pick jaws to fight him for comedy value

Yeah, Oddjob and kneeling were banned in our multiplayers too.

Sorry, slightly off-topic, but did Rare confuse Nick Nack (3' 11") with Oddjobb (5' 10")?

It always confused me when I played it!

Jaws was amusing as a handicap player, he was so tall he broke a lot of levels. Was also fun shooting someone's gun sticking through a door and them wondering how you were shooting them.

Not exactly, I don't think. I think they just recognised Oddjob was a more recognisable/interesting character and wanted to vary the height of characters to mix things up.

People used to get it in the neck for picking Boris round my friend's house... Because he was a dweeb, I think.
