Gran Turismo 5 vs. Forza Motorsport 3?

Let's be honest, it's not about the money, we only REALLY have time to play one throughout if you wanna get 100%. With GT a proven game that maybe going down the ranks in some gamers views, and Forza 3 looking to take the racing sim crown as they seem to improve on every release, which would you choose if you could only pick one?

Graphically we've seen what GT5 will look like having played prologue, it will be interesting to see if PD improve on the final release. As for Forza 3, it's looking a lot sharper than the last game looking at the latest shots. Both running at 60 FPS there doesn't seem to be much in it between these two now.

Gameplay wise Forza 2's physics were awesome. Each car felt different and you could tell the difference in physics (body roll etc) even when you made modifications to the cars the differences were there, even the sound of the cars were better. I think these factors in Forza 2 lack in the GT series, and while i'm on the praising side of Forza for it's gameplay, the AI seemed better in Forza 2. Let's be honest the AI in GT is dull, it always has been. The NPC cars in GT just follow each other as if they are lemmings driving them. In Forza you get a feeling of great rivalry against the A.I as if you're playing online with a real player, I don't need to go on any longer you know what I mean.

Career mode I think GT is king. The different cups were challenging and interesting. Manufacture cups, rally cups, license cups, endurance races, it's all great and there's more to come with official license races! Forza 2's career starts off great but gets repetitive. Just one long line of races after races that you just want to get out of they way for the sake of getting 100% achievements. But then again Forza has Xbox Live – nuff said.

There are other factors and differences between both games and I don't wanna ogg the thread so let someone else join the argument.

You may think differently to me, if so post your thoughts! I'll probably get both, and I'm sure most of you will. But which one will you play the most? Or which one would you pick if you could only pick one?

I think it's GT for me, simply because it's GT! No Sony Playstation is complete without a GT game and I think I'll still be playing it in 2-3 years time.

Their both amazing games if you like the genre. I'll be amazed if you're disappointed whichever one you buy.

I think the existence of each pushes the other developer harder.

I don't have a PS3, so it's going to be Forza. If I had both, then whichever one has the best online play. Everything else pales in comparison.

GT will be a complete masterwork that will have a finger in almost all of Motorsport’s pies. Forza will be a more narrow but far more customisable and aggressive affair.

I will be buying and thoroughly enjoying both games.

Why limit yourself to one?

Both look phenomenal but with time being and issue I find myself hoping GT slips to next year so that I can give each game the attention they deserve

GT5 will be snazier, better graphics and polish etc, Forza 3 will be a better driving experience i imagine. My biggest grumble about both is that they will be too massive, you have to devote your life to playing them, which ultimately is pretty unfun and boring. The original Gran Turismo was just right (or maybe 2) all the others and the Forza games have had too many cars/tracks in my opinion.

Forza Motorsport III, no question. I'm still playing Forza 2 whereas GT5 Prologue was binned within a week or something. That just says it all.

The progression between GT3 A-Spec and GT5 Prologue was practically nil apart from how shiny it looked. Frankly, GT5P was boring so the full game of GT5 will need to be improved massively to be a contender. I still like the series though and I'll get it, but I'm not expecting it to be great.

The GT games just feel so slow even when your driving the fastest cars. If they improve the sense of speed I'll get both, if not just Forza.

Out of the 2, I am looking forward to GT5 more. Part of the reason is because I got myself a Logitech G25 and a Wheelstandpro recently and have been playing Prologue quite a bit and just got use to having that brilliant connection between wheel and game.



I've just picked up a MS Official wireless wheel from the classifieds in anticipation of Forza 3 as well but don't expect the experience with that to be as good.

You've fallen for the same trick they pulled with Forza 2.
The game will not feature 32x anti-aliasing.

for me its a very similar situation to FIFA/PES, with Forza being FIFA in this case and coming thru from behind.

GT was truly a vast leap in its first 3 incarnations but its felt quite sterile and stagnated to me since then, the last Forza just felt so much better, it seemed to hit a great point between accesibility and full on sim and with the latest offering less bland tracks it could become the new benchmark in racers.

I can see Forza 3 being my main choice, purely because it's on the 360 and no matter how much people might like to protest otherwise, the online is still EASIER (not better, but easier) to get going with friends. If Sony get a new firmware out in the meantime that enables an easy way to invite people to parties/games for all titles then it'd be a more difficult choice.

I'm pretty sure I'll pick up GT5 as well, but not on release, at least, not at the moment anyway.
