My thought, on reading the Edge article was "it's sick as hell, but I'd like to play it".

On second thoughts it's not too disimilar to 'Conflict Desert Storm', albeit referencing a far more specific event that raises far more emotions in most people than the Gulf War.

I think the appeal is that it satisfies people's curiosity about extreme situations. On that level it's fine but I can't see the families of the 9/11 victims enjoying it...

I think it's one big hornet's nest. If it was April I would accuse Edge of a sick wind up. My own thoughts are indifferent to the game. But I strongly believe this game is going to get A LOT of people's backs up. Not mine. I won't buy it. Not because of the subject matter, just because it sounds crap.

War games are one thing. So far we have won some terrific battles. They are represented because we didn't lose. The upcoming Pearl Harbour is obviously different. But the Yanks took swift revenge so it's ok to base a game on it.

The WTC however is a loss to the Yanks. They haven't won this time. In fact they are losing quite badly. Now for the "baddies" the WTC was a resounding success. But I can't help thinking that our two governments are not going to appreciate or see it this way.

And war games are not exactly disaster games. Terrible losses I know but this is different. Then again perhaps it ain't any different at all...

Attatching the word 'game' to 9/11 will immediately and irreversably condem the project in some people's eyes, because it suggests the disaster is being trivialised into something that can be enjoyed.
This is pretty much what I thought.

To me the whole project smacks of cynicism not a million miles away from the proposed 9/11 Hollywood film.

Especially considering the mounting evidence that G. Bush allowed 9/11 to happen for dirty oil-related reasons

Let's not get into that here, I'm sure we'll have more than enough theories to peruse when Michael Moore's latest film is released.

doesnt bother me at all really, people dont bat an eyelid at some world war 2 game or vietnam games or anything like that, personally i would have made it from the terrorists point of view, more interesting. Then again i'd make a ww2 game from the nazi's point of view because then people can question their actions because in most cases they associate themselves with the people they would be shooting, so it would make people think more about the stuff they're blowing up on screen and hopefully see that games dont have to be violent to be enjoyable
