Vertical, always have and always will. I think it looks better standing up to be honest and I haven't had any major issues with it set-up that way.

Never really understood the "vertical = breakage" theory to be honest. The way I see it is, if you're 360 is going to break down it could happen either way. It's pot lukc really because we all know the 360 is the most well built console ever!

I have had always had my 360 vertical and only had to replace one due to the RROD (that was a launch machine anyway, had it for about 3 years). I know a mate who always keeps his horizontal and has had to replace his console around 8 times due to faults (the RROD mainly).

I would imagine the vertical = breakage stuff is more to do with the disc drive than anything else?

Not wanting to pick on Brats in particular but it is faintly depressing that we say *just* once.

I would have thought, ignoring airflow, vertical would allow greater, more efficient heat dissipation.

Not from my experience, I had loads of freezing issues when using it vertically, especially with my very first machine.

It's only coz I read on here about people on their fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth machines etc. Neither of mine are Jaspers, so I am resigned to the fact that they will both go again at some point. Luckily I have two, so it isn't that bad if one goes.

Mine's horizontal because it's on my TV stand and wouldn't be able to stand vertically. When I lived with my parents I had it vertical and never really had a problem.

With a drive tray like that I think horizontal is the way to go.

Horizontal for me. When I first got one I had it vertical and got a few disc read errors.

Not true unfortunately. The gpu and scaler get baked from the heat from the cpu's heatsink when stored on its end. Also the motherboard is under more stress vertically, the weight from the 2 heatsinks plus heat = warping, which leads to cold solder joints. (video loss, E74 etc)

                        Horizontal all the way.

Also, I always say to people after playing for a session, leave it on the dash doing nothing for a good 10 minutes doing nothing, as this gives the fans a chance to get some of the heat out. Switching off straight away it literally cooks the solder balls inside the machine. Feel back there when you first finish, then again 10 minutes later, quite a difference.

Horizontal. I never put consoles vertical.
