How dare they not churn a new title out every year! Those sick ****s.

The internet makes me laugh, games companies can't get anything right apparently.

They need to find the right out of time to release a game and stick to it, perhaps that number is 631 days?

      Reminds me of this

well, thinking of companies like Blizzard makes it a bit harsh to damn Ubisoft for taking just 5 years to release a successor to one of their most successful franchises or even make an announcement (Rainbow 6). game quality questions left aside, fact remains Ubisoft doesn't make much money this way and is about to lose the faith of their Ghost Recon and R6 fanbases. i think i will probably apply as franchise manager

It just seems like everyone is so hypocritical, everyone complained that the last Rainbow 6 was like an expansion pack so moaned about it coming out so soon.

The War shooter genre has changed quite significantly since GRAW2 and R6 came out and I'm sure Ubisoft are someone concerned that they may not get back the development costs so they have to be timed just right. Especially if COD goes the Future soldier route, which it is.

you are right Boris, but i feel Ubisoft just doesn't care enough or even at all about their community and fans. whereas Blizzard every now and then has at least some news, screens or betas out, Ubisoft not even thinks about giving Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - which is probably the best expansion pack i've ever played and still has a lot of online activity) - some new old Vegas 1 maps in order to keep the community happy. and why not announce a successor is in development to give the fans something to look forward to?

Not much has been heard of this lately...Ubisoft have just announced its been pushed back to Q1 2012 to avoid a busy end of year schedule. I'm sure this happened last year, and it was supposed to be out Q1 2011. Apparently its been caught up in a series of overhauls and cancellations across the whole Ubisoft portfolio. By the time its out, it'll be five years since the last home console iteration, so it'll be interesting to see whether people are still bothered about the franchise.

I am! Can't wait! Hopefully, I'll have a PC able to cope with it by then!

no wonder Ubisoft makes losses year after year. their franchise policy is a disaster. Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon are the games with the biggest fan bases and highest anticipations... yet Ubi doesn't even manage to get some encouraging news out to the fans every now and then.

Source? I'd imagine Assassin's Creed runs it close these days...

you would know if you were a fan of either R6 or GR or both. the Rainbow Six franchise spans 6 games and GR 5 games - on consoles alone i think. all good games must be said. but of course this fan-base erodes over time and if Ubisoft doesn't pay attention other companies, such as Codemasters, will claim the TFPS market for themselves.

                        Multiplayer video

This looks great. I hope they have some great big open coop maps for Team GRAWsome to roll up on.

is this a hybrid shooter again or 3rd person only?

so it seems Operation Flashpoint will stay this generation's one and only TFPS - too bad...
