Galaxy must be one of the most overrated games ever. I swear.

Nay. I'm a Nintendo fanboy at heart, my favourite 5 games of all time are Nintendo games and I've owned a Nintendo home console in some shape or form for over 20 years - least I did up until last year when I sold my Wii.

I bought a Wii full of great expectation but besides 3 or 4 games and the Virtual Console stuff there was very little I enjoyed. I don't like their new 'casual gamer' direction, I don't really like the Wii controller (or I do, but only for a select genre of games) and I don't much like playing low-res games after experiencing HD as I find it difficult immersing myself in them to the same degree. If I had to sum the Wii up in one word it would be disappointing. If I was allowed another word it would be very disappointing.

3DO wasn't awful. I bought a lot more games for my FZ1 than I have for the Wii.

If you a PlayStation 3 or a Xbox 360 (or if you are lucky, both), a Wii compliments well with either consoles and thus it is a YAY!

On the other hand, as a stand-alone system, I would openly shout NAY! from the rooftops as it is a fairly weak single format from my point of view.

I love my light gun games so the Wii is perfect for offering me those arcade-in-your-home thrills with the likes of Ghost Squad and House of the Dead: Overkill.

Same here. Perhaps because the N64 was a technical mess for one, dated terribly much more than the PS1. Cube was ok for me though.

It?s not an awful console (of the 3DO, Jaguar et al ilk) and it?s no longer at the point where I?d struggle to name 5 games that have really excited me about it but at the same time I can say that out of all 5 consoles which would be considered current (360, PS3, Wii, DS and PSP) it?s easily the one I use the least.
Why not? Is it because its made by Nintendo?
I personally think its a terrible machine with a lack of major quality on it. Sure there are some nice titles, Metroid and Resi 4 to name 2 but these are on older systems in a similar form.

For me its a silly toy, like when you are a kid and you see the advert at christmas showing the latest car racing set. All the extra effects make it look exciting as hell but the reality is by boxing day you are bored of it.

                Nay for me.

Yay, I guess. Even if I do play my 360 more these days.

Though saying that, I use both consoles siginificantly less than I do my DS, which is fast turning into one of my favourite machines of all time. IMO, the DS is far better than the Wii.

Easily a Yay, although I hate looking through shops and seeing things like "My Pony" and it's eighteen expansions taking up space on the shelves. I love the control and more importantly the awesomeness of games like Super Smash and Fire Emblem.

Yeah, Smash Brothers Brawl is the best game on the machine.

That game + some mates + some beers (etc) = WIN.

There's something about the dashboards of Nintendo consoles post-N64 that give me a bit of a tightening in my stomach. I think it's the sounds they make.

The Gamecube one in particular made me feel well didgy, like I'd been sucked into a horrific time-warp where future, present and past were all splodged into one.

Look how jolly the boot-up sequence is, before it suddenly assaults me with the kind of ambience and sounds that would haunt me in my nightmares.

But yeah, the Wii has a similar effect with its little grey tiles swooshing across the screen on boot and the incessant jangly noises on the Channel list (and during the substantial waits when accessing online stuff and updating firmware).

Surely I can't be the only one who gets a sickly feeling caused by these? I get the same feeling when I look at vintage cars, Tudor paintings and Eastern Bloc films/cartoons/marionette shows if that helps.

^I adored the Gamecube dashboard, it was more evocative and atmospheric than most of its games, like a grey-haired Mario hunched over a tumbler of bourbon, cogitating on the inadequacy of his existence as a plumber, then attempting suicide via slitting his wrists with a shard of broken glass, but then loads of mushrooms spew out, and he's big Mario again, only with erectile dysfunction.

Beautiful twinkles and soaring noises, underpinned by vaguely depressing, heavily understated Gregorian synths. How can that ever be dissed, it was perfect???

Gamecube dashboard was even better than the Dreamcast's!

Played Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes much?

The Wii is still a "Yay" for me, but I can see why it would be a "Nay" for many others. As mentioned many times over on this thread, there is a lot of casual dross, but there is also real quality on the machine - anyone else saying otherwise is talking pure nonsense.

I disagree, short life and overpriced it may have been , But I had many a happy time with my 3DO and it had a fine collection of games , much better than the on the Wii imo .
