I like the Vita. I'm not using it until Gravity Rush / Daze is in my hands but it is a brilliant bit of kit that will no doubt have plenty of games in the long run that are worth playing.

Early adopters should have learnt by now that every system has a drought after the launch window. That is just the way it is these days. I took the plunge on the price and playing an awful lot of the launch games. Really liked a lot of them as well.

You don't have to have a new game out every week to justify owning a console.

Go and look at the 3ds thread on here for comments made at the same period after the 3ds launch:

Complaints about battery life, when will there be a game out that I actually want rather than N64 ports, the store is slow, I just bought a PSP Go so now my 3ds is seeing even less use, the 3d makes my eyes go funny so I've had to turn it off, the only game I'm looking forward to is Mario Kart 7, runmors of developers jumping ship, complaints that it has no killer app and comparisons to Virtual boy.

Exactly the same kinda stuff as can be seen in this thread, mostly teething troubles and a game drought. It's been out less than 4 months FFS.

I think the 32GB memory card is out here soon - GAME are advertising it in store at ?79.99...

Trust me, nobody early adopts like I do. Have bought every single major console (including revisions like DSi and PSPGo) on launch day or launch week for the last eight years. Even bought the XBox 360 HD-DVD add-on, not to mention a 3000 quid 3D tv when the tech had just arrived. So I'm pretty used to what I can and can not expect from a fresh product. And comparatively, I think the PS Vita has some issues that go beyond simply being new on the market, and I damn well should be allowed to talk about them.

Is a difference of opinion something to get upset about? Should one be angry because someone feels otherwise than yourself? If someone thinks less of something you actually like, does that reflect upon you? Despite what our history as humans might suggest, the answers to all those questions are NO. The calm and sensible response to someones civilised criticism should be along the lines of "I don't consider those aspects to be major flaws and/or the strengths generally outweigh them for me", and not "That is dumb!".

          edit
(and I want to add that early adopting to the extent that some does isn't cool or something, it's mostly a big waste of money considering what you can get later for that same amount, it's simply the price I'm willing to pay for a chance of new gadget magic)

            That's dumb. (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Edit: Personally, I love the Vita and at the moment (as someone who is slow at playing through and finishing games) there is an abundance of things for me to play. I'm still loving Uncharted!
We have to remember that Joe Bloggs doesn't get through games at the same rate as some of you guys do.

Anyway, is Escape Plan any good? I keep looking at it and I just wonder if anyone has any impressions?

Lol currently aren't most of those things about the 3DS still true?

RLLMUK seems to love the vita - you would get lynched if you commented negatively about it...

Lol, of course it's fine to criticise things. It is a bit early on for anyone (not saying you even said this Alex - I'm late to the thread) to write off a < 4 month old console IMO and I think it would be fair to describe anyone who did that as dumb (or at least a dumb thing to say) because it really is way too early to do that.

The game save thing is pretty stupid yes and I guess there are people out there with Vitas but no way of accessing a PC and for them it's a major headache. They ought to sort that out. For most people though we're talking about a small inconvenience though no? Not something that is the final nail in the coffin for a console doomed to fail.

Sorry but that's a silly point - eBay is full of all of the consoles, there's loads of 3DSs, 360s, PS3s etc. on there too.

Some of them, definitely. I still find the 3D effect to be a hit-and-miss, the battery life is very bad, the interface is ugly and incoherent, the store is slow, it lacks a proper user account and the console looks like something built in lego... by a blind kid. But what still makes it a good investment, is that it actually has games. And not only does it have a good amount of games available right now, it's got a ton coming out later, so its future is safe. And even when it was new, Nintendo had a good amount of games they promised us, so while the start was slow, we knew it wouldn't be like that forever, and that's what worries me the most about the Vita. Outside Inafune's Soul game and Gravity Rush (though this one seems to be a polarising game), I can't see anything worthwhile other than ports or version of console games in its future.

the difference is that the vita has been out for a very short time...

eBay is full of consoles at any given time. It's been full of Vita's since day one.
                              Kept you waiting, huh?

Indeed! I reviewed it for the site. I would link but I'm typing on phone.
It is good but maybe a. It frustrating.
