I really didn't want to have any interest in this but they do seem to have thought of everything. As long as things like price and battery life are OK I could be very tempted but I need to know more first.

It's interesting that they've said that PlaysStation games are going to be made available to Android phones in general rather than just the Sony phones.

I really don't know if I like the size. I like small and I felt the original PSP model was about as big as any modern handheld should be. This is just that bit too big. Not enough to put me off but I'd far rather smaller than bigger.

I think they really wanted that big screen To really differentiate themselves.

Everything so far lines up with the specs produced by that French site. Epic pretty much said it's 4 times as powerful as the iphone 4 (although they didn't specifically name it. Can't piss off Jobs by daring to belittle their product)

ARM are incredibly good at what they do though, their CPUs simply don't get hot (pretty hard to when they consume <1"). The quad core PowerVR is a different matter but this thing is going to be in lots of tablets and smartphones in a couple of years which will be smaller than the NGP and have more tightly packed electronics.

The interesting thing will be the battery. If they go above 1800mah that's a sure fire sign that this thing consumes a lot of power.
Fingers crossed that it will be ok then. battery life is the next thing to find out. Personally I don't have a problem with PSP battery life, but then I never take it where there is no power supply nearby.

It'd be handy if the battery life was decent but I'd be amazed if it comes in better than the 3DS one. Size wise I don't mind, people's willingness to buy cumbersome products liek iPad mean Sony will feel less obliged to minimise size and outside of a handful of territories not many people carry them about, myself included.

The recently announced PSP2, codenamed Next Generation Portable, has a battery life of between four and five hours, Eur…

4-5 hours + being sold at a loss.

Almost all the 'source' information from trustworthy sites has proven to be correct (aside from the Tegra 2+ stuff).

Going to have to have one of those. Definitely ticking a lot of the right boxes.

and with dual analogues, it makes sure it ticks the left boxes too (grr @ Nintendo)

If its within the 3DS price range then they have done everything right with the PSP2. I just hope the great games appear fairly quickly.

It's like Sony scoured the internet's gaming boards, noted all the criticisms of the PSP, made another list of all the stuff on everyone's wish list and then just fixed EVERYTHING. As long as they don't balls it up with region locking I think it deserves to do well; they did give us pretty much everything we asked for.

After the issues they've had with the PSP and PS3 and considering the recent movements generally towards it I'd be amazed if the PSP2 wasn't region locked.
