Ports always have a place on new hardware but it's often a new chance for a game to get exposure. Take OoT, most of the people buying it will either have not played it in years or will have never played it at all. That's not true of things like Infamous 2 where it's a current title that's readily available on a full console that's RRP'd at the same or less than the heldheld that's immitating it. Many of the handhelds adopters will be people who are fans of the hardware and franchises (hence having bought into them already with the PS3) giving them little reason to pick the PSP2 up. Playing COD on the go is appealing and they could try connecting PS3 and PSP2 users across the 2 devices though that leads to an array of knock on issues. Far more appealing to give a new COD on the go. Continuing your game on the go etc are going to be niche choices as well which can't be supported if people are expected to buy ?40 twice over to own the game.
I really like the look of the PSP2, more so than the 3DS and I'd be there Day 1. If it launches with Resistance 3, SOCOM 4 and Infamous 2 (for example) and they're identical to the PS3 versions then I'd be cancelling the pre-order straight away and waiting till there's something worthwhile that's unique to the system down the line and I seriously doubt I'd be in a small minority doing the same. As the 3DS is facing, a selection of solid exclusives are needed to provide at least a reason on the near horizon to keep interest in the system.
