Nothing is set in stone. Sony have to make some noise to stay in the game. Especially as the 3DS is out in the next 5 months.

I happen to think when it comes to games the PSP is the best Handheld I've ever owned, just really let down by loading times and the lack of a 2nd stick

Nintendo submitted a version of the 3DS to the FCC which used Tegra 2 (guessing price/power usage made them drop it) which confirmed a lot of the rumours that had been floating around.

I keep hearing snippets of bitching in articles and video talks, about the "race to the bottom" pricing structure and how it's ruining everything (or at least their expected profit margins).
I don't really have much sympathy for them though, since the majority of junk I wouldn't even pay a quid for.
I think big devs/publishers are making bloated games, with bloated teams, and it's all based on the fact that games cost £40-50. If people decided to shun games of that price point all together, then devs/publishers would have to be more economical and realistic. I think it would lead to games that rely more on pure gameplay, because all the extra stuff( cut-scenes, scripts, voice talents etc.. ) .. costs more than actually making a game engine and putting gameplay into it.
I love how small devs are driven by cleverness and artistic enthusiasm; it's the kind of spirit the games industry was built on. More power to the small dev mentality, and the fun, low priced games that result from it.

The results of my calculations are in!
Assuming the buttons are the same size as the psp2000's....
That's a 5" screen from where I guess the edges of the screen are. If there's a massive bezel it could be less but I think I've correctly guessed the edges based on judgement and messing around with the colours to find the edge.
The console is the same width as the PSP2000 but 3-4 mm taller

It says in the article that the PSP Go style form factor isn't final anyway. They might not want to make a console that's too reminiscent of such a failure.
Where the PSP2 will really be able to dominate is in stuff like Modern Warfare Portable if it does have twin sticks - they'd be crazy not to.

Randicoot, as probably pointed out earlier, the form of the Go had absolutely nothing to do with its failure. Its form is great. But, even if these pics are real, even the early official images of the PSP were quite different to the final model.
