CVG's favoured son, Pachter the Analyst gets it wrong again by saying that the PSP will be dead on arrival and the 3DS will effectively fail due to the in roads made by the iPhone killing the handheld market. Yes, this generation of handhelds, by collectively selling the most units ever is clearly a failing market.

Another difference of course is that whatever game you make on an iPhone there are 99 other versions of that same game that someone might choose to buy instead.

The PSP has had quite a good run for a device that as dead on arrival, not to mention 4 hardware revisions. Wish I could design something that was dead on arrival and sold 62 million units.

iPhone games will never be able to compete with handhelds when a traditional control method is required.

We had this kind of daft talk with the PSP. Sure its got some great looking games but its never really taken down the PS2, there's no way PSP2 will match the PS3.

The "current gen level of graphics" thing does kinda fit in with all the rumours so far. Both the overheating issues and the snippets of info that have been revealed so far.

Well there was when Kotaku reported that a portable PS2 was to be powered by elephants on giant hamster wheels. Though not too late for that to happen if this PSP2 has battery issues...

nVidia announced at CES that they're manufacturing their own ARM chips as part of the Tegra2 platform.

Could be something that's been in the works for a long time so the tech could be in the PSP2.
