Remote play sounds awesome to me for in house use. It solved the "fights for the big TV" problem for me, or having to watch corrie with the wife......

Ive ended up caving in on my 2 game limit....

    Uncharted
    Ridge
    Wipeout
    UMvC

    all preordered!

Do i need Everybody's Golf or Blazblue in my life tooo :/ ?

I had a play on a demo unit in Game this morning, all the while trying to ignore the member of staff desperately trying to get me to preorder. The screen is very nice; had a bash on Uncharted which was lovely & some fighting game (not UMvC) which seemed a bit mince - didn't spend long on that though, so probably not a fair comment.

I was surprised at how big the unit felt - not heavy, but it seemed quite chunky & substantial.

Good stuff - hasn't convinced me to preorder (will wait to see if any decent deals surface in the near future) but promising all the same.

I tried out Unit 13 today. From what I gathered it was the full game. The controls were spot on, none of this forcing use of the touch screen for pointless actions like with the launch titles. I'll definitely be picking up on release. Whilst I'm not a fan of the series, if they nail COD on Vita, it'll shift units by the millions IMO. Vita could be the winner over 3DS this time if Sony are smart.

I do hope Sony haven't implemented a touch screen rule, whereby it must be implemented in some way in all games. Ridge Racer would be much better if you could press O for the rear view, instead you have to touch the screen with your left hand, which forces you to either do it only on a straight or risk losing control of your car. The rear panel paddle shift is quite novel, but less efficient than using the face buttons. It's totally unnecessary in Uncharted too, I feel the game would benefit if you could switch off all touch controls entirely.

          demoed one today in GAME;spotted a few things from the off that didnt feel right;

the edges of the unit are very bulky; when pressing the x button my thumb was hitting the right analogue stick; the analogue sticks feel too small as well - not sure what the designers were smoking.....whiffs of reasons for a slimer version.

loved the touch screen in the golf game though, shame the screen protector wasnt as thick as a slice of bread. You couldnt see the beauty of the OLED screen and colours- i'm wondering if GAME are actually wanting to market the device properly??

I think the controls on the Vita are really good. Like, the best controls on any handheld ever. Not sure what Sony would have to do to them to actually make people happy though.

            'Give us twin sticks!'

            'These twin sticks are wrong'

I was like Solid Snake in Game today. There was a young sales girl walking round with a Vita trying to entice people into pre-ordering. I don't wan't the first day newness ruined so I dodged her.

I've also got no intention in buying from Game.

I played it the other day I tried.
                  Little Deviants
                  Ridge Racer
                  Hot Shots Golf
                  Motostrom R/C
                  Super Stardust.
                  Wipeout

Was a bit of a pre-order totally cancelled moment, nothing really stood out for me.
May pick one up but seriously think the handheld gaming battle has been lost and no matter how many features or power you throw at it, creativity and originality will continue to expand on mobile/tab platforms to much larger audiences.
Hoping that the PSN download scene spawns some better stuff, I'm sure something will come out for it and spark my interest but at the moment meh.

I played a good hour with the Vita and was actually pleasantly surprised. Gravity Daze was awesome. Wipeout was good as well, I even liked it better than HD because it looks more atmospheric. Ridge Racer played like the PS3 game, but ran at a shoddy framerate. It wasn't bad though.

But the likes of Everybody's Golf bored me right after booting it up. I loved 5 on the Ps3, but this is just mostly the same.

If you loved everybody's golf on PS3, why wouldn't you love it on Vita? It was never going to be much different. (If you'd played around with it a bit you'd find stuff in there the PS3 version doesn't have)

me too - with what i saw, there is no way i'm raiding my ISA for launch; far too much ps3 familiarity

Am I right in thinking Gravity Daze is a PSN release? Is it gyroscopic only? That would be a deal breaker for me

                          Comment

It's apparently going to be a PSN-only release in the EU. Lot of conflicting news about it though. No it's not gyroscope control only. I only used the two sticks in the demo.

I'm so depressed that I don't want this at all.

I was crazy for the PSP, got mine from the first Japanese batch. Played Ridge Race to death for months.

But this, I'm not bothered about. I think it's because I only ended up using my PSP for emulation, & I can do that now brilliantly on my smart phone.

                              Wish I wanted it more.

                              Sorry, depressing pointless post.

Chuffed about Gravity Daze, will pick it up then. Can't face any more games relying on gyroscopes as it just doesn't work with handhelds. If I can use the sticks it sounds well worth a go

The Vita feels very much like a PSP variant to me at the moment. Despite having quite a lot on order and it only being close to 3 weeks away now I'm not feeling very excited for it. I think part of it is the lack of killer app. I adore Uncharteds and will love the new one but coming so close after UC3 has taken the shine off a little. Everything else is 'nice' but that's all with nothing at all on the horizon. It should make for some nice chilling on the balcony in summer with Everybody's Golf etc and a drink but I can see why some won't find it an exciting proposition as yet.
