My son said he was in HMV today and they were advertising the new vita with a choice of 2 games in which you can choose one for free if you pre ordered and those games were uncharted and FIFA can anyone please confirm this as if so I just might be tempted.

      Thanks.

        There is. ?150 for a new 3DS.

        ?230 - ?280 for a Vita.

Huge difference when it comes to shelling out for multiple units within a family.

            The hmv offer is:

FREE Uncharted (?44.99) OR Fifa (?39.99)
FREE Pre-Order Pack (h'phones/?5 PSN discount etc)

for the price of ?229.99 (Wi-Fi) or ?279.99 (3G model).
The PUREhmv reward points from the purchase if redeemed against credit, are worth ?5 as well. If it's double points - which is unconfirmed so far - that would be ?10.

Additionally you can purchase Fifa (if you chose Uncharted as the free game) for ?25 - saving a further ?14.99. There will also be a couple of other titles that you can save ?10 off each one, when bought with the console, though the graphics for what those are won't go out til Tuesday. So for ?254.99 you can get the wi-fi model, Uncharted & Fifa. That's pretty good for a bricks & mortar deal, I'd have thought.

            And fwiw Memory Cards prices are: 4gb ?14.99, 8gb ?29.99 & 16gb ?39.99

No one is paying those prices for the Vita system only though, are they. You can get the console only for ?199.99, or with a game and 8Gb memory card for ?227.

Who cares its still worth the rrp I can even see the screen (as its big) when I'm drunk (like now)

Hmm. Well, I used one for the first time at work today. Instantly impressed by the hardware... far more so than by the 3DS, although I was hoping for an XMB-style interface. The battery life and load times were a bit shocking. Swiping your finger over the screen for key sequences in Uncharted really destroyed my immersion in the game too- I hope devs use the functionality when it's appropriate instead of shoehorning bits in to show off the (admittedly beautiful) hardware.

Uncharted and Wipeout were OK but not worth investing in the console for really. I can accept the battery life (especially when the external battery is on the horizon) but I'm circumspect about the software- I'm just not sure that the "full console experience" is what I really want or need from a handheld. Might change my tune when more games appear and Remote Play functionality is fully implemented with PS3 games (i.e. Demon's Souls in bed) but playing with it for the afternoon has put me on the fence about my pre-order, after months of being almost certain of getting it on launch.

Well the past few posts seems to have gone off a bit based on what I didn't say but appear to have portrayed. I never suggested the Vita is over priced. I insinuated that the Sony official appeared to be aware of lacklustre pre-orders and probably knows it will require a price drop to reach the necessary market penetration to ensure the 10 year software library actually happens - hence why he couldn't keep a straight face while categorically denying there will be a price drop. There's a difference between something being over priced, and something being priced fairly but still being priced outside of a significant audience demographic. This is the problem the Vita will face I think from gauging reactions.

I'm hoping the Vita does really well, it would have been nice if it had launched here with great new IP's like Gravity Daze rather than borderline console ports but hopefully there are things to look forward to down the line.

Yeah, I saw it a few times without paying attention before realising it was the Vita advert.

Is the Starter pack any good? (for anyone who's imported it) Have a few points on my game account so got it for ?12 odd but I had a quick google and one guy was saying the case wasn't great + the game case was a bit hard to get the memory card into/out of.

I went for the SPF case. It's got space inside for 8 games and is a hard case. Zavvi have it for ?15 or the Uncharted GA themed one for ?20.

Amazon have it for ?15 as well if you actually want to get it in 2012.

If this gets a Valkyria Chronicles game, I'll buy one. Not before.
