“We do not have plans currently to bring the white PS Vita to the SCEE region, but will monitor demand and continuously evaluate the situation

There's always hope, failing that importing.

Got to admit, the Hatsune LE is quite nice but generally speaking (with the exception of the PSPGo) never felt these worked as well in White as they do in Black. It's the massive black screen which throws it off.

I dunno I always prefered white, you cannot see the finger prints as much although I suppose you get them all over the screen anyway regardless of colour.

Now that I have to commute in to work on an actual train the Vita is a god send.

Golf in the morning? Quick 18 holes if you don't mind.

I thought StarDrone Extreme was a pinball game until I actually looked at it...

1.8 million. That's how many PlayStation Vitas were sold as of March 31, as per Sony.

The information was revealed in a Sony earnings call following the company's annual earnings report today.

CEO Kaz Hirai on the system's sales:
"About Vita," Mr. Hirai said, "the last year, [we sold] 1.8 million units for US, Japan, Asia and Europe. And as a starting phase, I think that was a good start."

Sony expects to sell a total of 16 million PSP's and Vita's in its next fiscal year.

It is a good start, it's the post-March figures that are worrying

Sony and MS have been throwing money at Xbox and PS for years now to grab the lucrative under tv box stranglehold. Thing is things have changed since those aims we're dreamt up and most tvs in the future will have android built in. Plus iPads and tablets mean people don't use their tvs as much any more. To me this is the biggest threat to gaming as we know it because the incentive for them to keep losing money is disappearing fast

Yeah, well, thats why I questioned their Blu Ray investment. Is it worth it in the end? Its going towards on demand business, digital downloads et al. Thats rather certain to me. On that level MS surely has an edge with their Live which is a whole different beast in the US than it is outside of that. Its about digital services that can be accessed on the go.

I think a Tablet-console hybrid is the future. One you can plug into your TV but also use as a regular tablet. Those archaic boxes like the Ps3 and 360 are just another nuisance in the living room. And they are rather limited devices.

It depends, Blu-Ray in itself makes sense as digital only distribution is a very long way off and DVD isn't capable of working in the long term as a viable storage format. The main issue was trying to force it down the consumers throat as a replacement for movies, probably the thing Blu-Ray was least needed for. I'd say Microsofts and Sony's focus on TV was an error from the start, trying to hard to deliver services the TV its connected to either will or already can deliver. It's that lack of gaming focus early on that contributed to Nintendo's dominance this gen, they're message was much clearer and better aimed.

A Tablet-Console I feel is a waste of time too, we're still some point away from where they're as capable as a home console is and tablet design is ill-suited to a lot game design. If, for example, MS announced the next Xbox came in that form people would start complaining they want a controller to plug into it (instantly making it just another box under the TV) and too unwieldy to take outside with you as most the games would require the controller. Now it could have incorporated controls like the WiiU controller, but then people complain about that size too. Plus, it'd look short changed if all it does is game. Give it more functions and it's just a more powerful iPad with a confused marketing focus again and little chance of success.

Personally, there's nothing wrong with consoles or the gaming market. Sales are fine and I doubt having consoles under the TV annoys many. I also find any limitations in the current systems is purely due to the age of this generation, likely sorted with the new systems. Certainly tablets offer no advantages and neither does digital distribution currently. What they need to do next gen, is remember that they're selling gaming devices primarily.

Thinking of selling my Vita. Not really played it apart from a bit of EB Golf and SSD.

Question is - what is the best way of dealing with all my PSN purchases? Presumably, they can be deleted and I can install them again in the future when (if) I pick one up again?
