If I was to be picky, there's still things I'd improve. The 'normal' scaling setting is supposed to scale the image to full screen while maintaining the 4:3 ratio, but you can clearly see that it vertically stretches the image. Someone clearly has made a mistake here.

But in 'original' (1:1) setting with the vaseline filter disabled, it looks as pixel perfect as it could possibly be. And the screen really makes the colours look extremely vibrant, with excellent colour depth.

That sounds pretty bad. Would probably be the mode I'd use the most. Doubt such a "small problem" will get patched later on.

Oh Sony, it's like you're trying to put people off.

There's a bonus feature for PlayStation Vita owners who have updated to the system's new firmware: Sony has locked memo…

The Vita store seems to have been updated. The PS1 category is empty, but now I can at least download some of the PS1 games from my previous downloads option. Many weren't available for download, even though I could've sworn I saw them on that huge list released earlier. Final Fantasy 8 & 9, Crash Bandicoot and Theme Hospital are still unavailable.

          Edit:
I really hate the round "bubble" icons the Vita uses. The square PS1 logos being placed in the middle of them with a grey background looks hideous.

          Edit 2:
The aforementioned sales seems to have changed with the latest store update. Now Tomb Raider 1 and the Fighting Force games are back to normal price. The others seems unaffected.

I also found the games I couldn't download on the Vita store now. But upon selecting them I still get the same message that these games can't be downloaded with a PS Vita system!!!???

Downloaded Wild Arms ok from my download list, but the other game I have obviously isn't available yet, Alundra..doh!

To be honest I prefer playing certain games that don't benefit from the second analogue on my PSP Go as you have the special save feature which is awesome.

By the way can you access the Vita's light whilst in a PSONE game?

Not sure what's up with the download list. FFVIII is available to buy from the Vita store but it won't let me download mine from my download list, where it says it can not be downloaded to the Vita. Guess it will transfer from PS3 with no problem but weird that it won't work from the download list yet other games do, like RE2 and 3.

Same problem here, maybe it's a timing issue still ?

I totally and completely understand sony's decision to make it as awkward as possible to switch regions, have multiple accounts etc on Vita. What I don't get is why they didn't do the exact same thing with the ps3. The inconsistency just makes absolutely no sense.

Vita is indeed the best way to play ps1 games today IMO. Well, a ps1 + a 14" 4:3 CRT is probably best but this is portable!

Yep. Seems to be quite a few games that you need to download on a PS3 and then transfer to the Vita.

You would think it would be helpfull if Sony tells you this upon purchase, i would be sincerley pissed off if i had no PS3. But then again what am i saying, Sony and helpful dont go together in same sentance.

The western stores do seem to have a few teething problems at the moment.

The downloads for the PS1 games themselves appear to be the same as the ones for the PSP, hence the PSP notification before the game begins. The emulator is contained within the firmware rather than the download. It might just be that Sony have to flag these downloads en masse as Vita compatible, and they're having issues.

                          This is just speculation though.

Well at least im able to download these PS1 games, all be it the hard way via PS3. Just finished downloading Soul Reaver and i have to say im amazed as to how good it still looks today. I have not played a PS1 game, bar the Final Fantasys, since i put away my PS1 for the PS2 so really could not remember what to expect so am well suprised.

Is PAL PS1 playback on vita really as bad as people make it out to be, or are these people just unaware of how to change the screen size? Really want to download Wild Arms, but I can't decide whether to hold off and just buy a new memory card purely for my US account.

                                I'm playing Grandia...

I never played it on the ps1, so I'm not sure if its playing any slower, however I am really enjoying it. Im playing it in original screen size mode, not fussed about the black void that surrounds it. Its nice and crisp, I turned off the filtering as well and went for analogue controls so I can use the twin sticks.

On the flip side, I also purchased re-loaded... and kind of regret it. I loved Loaded, and this feels meh compared to it. Analogue mode doesn't work either which is annoying. I would had purchased Loaded if it was available, not quite sure why it isn't on there, if the sequel is.
