Ive played through Portal twice and i cant remember a single reference to Half-Life 2, unless i missed somthing?

They are different games set in different worlds as far as I am aware.

Didn't you know that RED is Camarilla and BLU is actually Sabbat? Pyro is a Nosferatu, hence the mask.

They happen in the same universe (although I'm not sure if it's canon), there's a mention of Black Mesa in Portal, I think. Still, I wouldn't consider them being the same "series". Portal isn't a shooter, it's a puzzle game.

I don't consider Street Fighter 4 and Puzzle Fighter (or whatever it's called) or Mario Galaxy and Mario Kart belonging to the same series.

      Edit: And this list sucks.

If you look in some of the offices in Portal you'll see the HL2 references, the final song from GlaDOS also references Black Mesa. The original Portal game was nothing to do with Half-life but then it was changed to fit into the HL universe. The portal gun was developed by Aperture Science as a teleportation technology in response to Black Mesa's teleportation system.

Going back to GTA IV, I agree with their choice of San Andreas as the best of the GTA games. GTA IV looks far better and the driving is much more realistic but it felt very shallow compared to San Andreas, the missions didn't last long and there was very little to do aside from the missions. In San Andreas the scale of the world was incredible with massive areas encompassing three very different cities, small towns, dirt roads etc. There were many story missions but there was also masses you could do on the side, my brother spent many hours mucking about in the single player without ever progressing the story.

It will all become clear in HL2 EP3 when you have to find the Borealis

Portal is Half-Life canon, I fully expect to see the portal tech in HL2 EP3 and as smouty says it'll be about the Borealis.

The lack of Halo makes the list a little daft in my eyes, but opinions are opinions.

Halo 1 is a heckload better than Half Life 2.

Are you saying Halo is just like Half-Life 2? If so, it's like comparing apples and oranges mate.

I just want to know because replying with "Hardly.. " leaves a lot to be desired...

Very small moot point in the whole discussion but I would've chosen Civ 4 above 3. Just sayin'

The original Half-Life is actualy one of the games that Destructoid had in a feature recently on games that havent aged well, so they obviously dont agree with that.

Though actualy a few of the games they chose for that list were odd choices, not just that one.

wow top 10 was a bit off. pleased to see no halos floating about. not that I don't like them (halo 2 was especially good) but it's easily the most overhyped series ever.

Only just seen this thread, so clicked on 10-1. Resident Evil 4 is at number 10: "Gone were the pre-rendered backgrounds". Code Veronica??? I refuse to continue reading something written by people who have no clue what they are talking about* (*carries on reading )

Yikes. Good list of games. Not sure about the order, but Beyond Good and Evil is in there at #6 which probably reflects my thoughts on it.
