I'll buy for interesting content at a reasonable price, but that's few and far between to be honest. I'd rather pay an extra £5 or so for an art book and soundtrack than any number of cheap plastic gimmicks (Or cheap metal gimmicks for that matter). As it is I have little remaining storage space for games... the sooner we see full DD games with competitive pricing the better.

Only picked up the U2 SE because GAME had it listed at the same price as the standard edition when I ordered, and I'm not at all sure why I bought the steelbook version of inFAMOUS and Killzone 2. I ****ing hate steelbooks.

I used to back when they were actually a novelty. These days, I will only pay the extra is there is something else extra included that I want. I certainly don't pay the extra £5 for a simple steel case anymore. They've chosen to saturate the steelbook novelty to the point where it's no longer interesting, so they're gonna have to try a bit harder these days.

i just have one the asian version of resident evil 4 on ps2 which has the book and the torch.

i do have coming this week the limited edition forza 3 as it was cheap on gameplay otherwise i would not bother with these limited editions.

the limited editions over in europe aren't actually limited edition are they, compared to the better limited editions over in japan.

Forgot to add that today I ordered the limited edition of Soldner X on PC. Dunno if it's that limited coz it's been on Play-Asia for years. Perhaps it's really limited but no-one bought it.

do sometimes...only if its something interesting or the price is pretty much the same.
have pre-ordered the BioShock 2 ltd and Bayonetta too (not the gun tho).

really liked the Fallout 3 lunchbox and bobble head too.

I do sometimes but I draw the line when it becomes too ridiculous. I'm tempted by the Bayonetta LE from Play but I really have no desire to have the replica gun that Game are offering. A friend of mine buys every limited edition he's interested in- the GOW2 lancers, Assassin's Creed figurines and so forth. I don't know where he finds the space to keep all of it.

i have to admit, yes, I love limited editions, even though these days every game seems to get one and zero of them are actually limited. it does help though that the pc and wii are my primary consoles and they don't seem to have the over abundance of limited editions that something like the 360 has

No, not usually. The only thing that is likely to make me weaken is a soundtrack CD, as I love soundtracks. I can't believe how some people in the games community will go crazy for some absolute crap.. metal boxes and plastic batarangs etc. Is there even a resale market for this stuff?

The only limited editions I can recall buying are the Metal Gear Solid silver box over 10 years ago, and Demon's Soul US deluxe edition (only for the artbook/soundtrack) a couple of months ago

I only own two steelbooks at present, Lost Planet on 360 and Area 51(!) on PS2. Lost Planet was in a 4-for-£20 deal a few months back, and Area 51 was £1.99 from Gash Gonverters, plus it's got a big dent in it. And why did Area sodding 51 get a bleedin' steelbook, anyway???

Steelbooks are ****e, and weigh fifty times as much as a normal DVD-style game case, pathetic. The only good thing I can say about them is that the disc spindle on a steelbook holds the disc in a nicer way than a standard game case does, there's no grandeur in it being made of heavy metal, it's really quite ridiculous.

Like Darwock, I'm only tempted by CD soundtracks. But a plastic figurine of some ten-a-penny anime cat? It does the opposite of tempt me, it repulses me.

                        Not any more...

The only CE's I'll buy ever again are the ones that have ingame content (stuff like the Forza 3 set and upcoming ME2). Every other company out there can thank Eidos for the crap they pulled with Batman as to why they'll probably never see my cash again.

No. I've bought a couple in days gone by, but they all look like tat to me & I've yet to see one that's changed my mind.

Kind of the same for me. If it's a game that I'm really interested in & I like the look of the extras, then I'll go for the special edition. However, if it's a ridiculous price I'll pass. I don't tend to go for the steel case editions, unless they're in a sale going cheap. I do sometimes wonder though how I'm going to store them once I'm done with the game. At the moment my Fallout 3 & Assassins Creed II LE have room to breathe on my shelves, but when I run out of space I'll end up shoving them in a huge box in the loft. I had promised myself to try to resist these LE in 2010, but seeing this, I couldn't resist.

I bought RE4 on the PS2 from Amazon and was quite pleased that they sent me the metal case version. I don't think it contains anything extra but it's still sealed so I'll just have to wait to find out.

Apart from PS Tenchu 2 which came with a crap music CD and a LE good quality t-shirt (which I still wear) for forgotten PS game C-12 Final Resistance I can't think of anything else I've bought which came with extras or was persuaded to buy because it was a LE. Even MGS Essential Collection or Ico and PS2 Silent Hill 2 in their fold-out cardboard shells/cases complete with art cards and extra DVD respectively aren't really LE's as I believe that's how they were all originally sold.

Even though I may already have had them I've been tempted (but that's all) by a few decent condition LE, usually metal case games, I've come across used in GAME. If I had bought them I would have sold on my other copies.

But generally LE and marketing extras don't interest me in the least unless I can get them at or close to the same price price as the vanilla version.

I've only ever purchased a couple of special editions. Sonic Adventure 10th Anniversary version. Which was neither special or limited.
Then I bought whichever version of Halo came in the steel case with the AV setup disc. Unfortunately the AV setup disc was damaged so I duly returned it to MS and they sent back another copy of the game disc! So that was a waste.
Stuff like faceplates, figurines, artwork etc don't add anything to the game as far as I can see. It's all just fluff designed to increase profit margins.
