There's a video on IGN of them holding up the glasses in front of the camera.
Please tell me you're making that up?

good news, the question remains though, what are the specifications of a "3DTV" display? just checked my Toshi and, dispite the fact it can display in 120Hz, the manual says there's only support for up to 60Hz HDMI input

Modern day consoles can barely cope with HD much less 3D requiring to double frame rates. I cant see much wide spread adoption this generation unless they managed to squeeze more performance out of these consoles. Next gen however, bring it on!

There's an article on Gamepro (A load of developer quotes from CES) saying basically that, assuming all you're doing is porting a game that's designed to be played in 2D (Which you could understand, given how much of the installed base that caters to). If you design from the ground up with 3D in mind, you can do so with that performance consideration in mind.

If the Digital Foundry article on the different approaches to 3D are anything to go by, we might see more titles than we might be expecting if 3D is a consideration for developers from the beginning of the development cycle. I do agree that it's the next gen where it will begin to be significant though.

The biggest hurdle right now is the fact that no-one is going to want to rush out and buy a new TV this second, just as HD adoption was a gradual process. But I'm glad to see that both Sony and NVIDIA are happy to play the pioneer role. If anything, the CES demos of WipEout HD in 3D sound fantastic.

This is totally nothing to do with Sony TVs or the PS3.... but I recently saw a pretty good 3D effect on the iPhone.

In the game Labyrinth. You basically tilt the iphone/ipod and the 3D graphics adjust accordingly. It was quite a neat effect!

Today I ordered my Sony KDL-60LX903. It came to £3399, which I thought was pretty cheap, especially as I was under the impression that it was gonna be closer to £6k.

It comes with two pairs of glasses, but apparently there are going to be a few different styles available so I've gotta go back soon to let them know which ones I want once more information is available.

                Quite pleased with myself.
                Kept you waiting, huh?

Only a little bit, one day when I have a candy cab like you (that I'll not even play) I'll be complete.

The whole 3D thing in the home still confuses me. Lots of places, including the BBC today, are implying that if you wanted it you'd need a 3D Tv, 3D Blu-ray player and a 50 quid cable.

Is that right? I always imagined that a 3D TV would be able to output a 3D image and that's all you'd need.

You need the special specs so that your head doesn't explode or sommat.

As far as "normal" broadcast TV goes you get Freeview in HD, 3D is limited to PS3 and/or a 3D Blu Ray player.

I honestly can't bring myself to care about it, everything seems to be going the 3d route though, even handhelds. bbblllehh

One thing you will need for it to be worth while is a 50 inch TV (none handheld of course!). Either that or you need to sit right up to the TV to get the effect.

I'll be interested to see what the long term effects on the brain, body and eyes will be.
