It's impossible to figure out really I think. We can't even all agree on why Batman sold better on PS3; IMO it was solely down to the extra content on the PS3 (there are plenty of people with both systems that had the choice).

Different people have different attitudes to differences on platforms. I still had a 360 when Bayonetta came out but in my mind I wanted it on PS3 because it seemed like it belonged on that system (please don't ask me to explain). When I found out what a mess the PS3 version was you'd think that I'd have just picked up the 360 version but instead I boycotted it completely. Yes I'm an idiot - rearrange these words 'face', 'nose', 'spite', 'cut'.

I think the userbase needs to be taken into consideration for Batman as well. Batman is a popular franchise outside of games so has a much broader appeal - from my personal experience (Warning: anecdotal evidence incoming) a lot of the more casual gamers choose the PS3 and Batman is the sort of title that reaches those people where others may not.

I find it equally confusing the difference in sales of both consoles exclusives - Like Halo:ODST selling over double that of Uncharted II despite not even being a full proper game as such and clearly being an inferior title. You could argue that 360 owners are more loyal to their franchises but then that also says something about PS3 owners being a step up from Wii owners. Either way I don't think piracy is making a huge difference to software sales on the 360 given that its the console of choice for online multiplayer and I can't see there being too many people with 2x360's for online & offline.

Atomiswave? Not likely, considering it doesnt run too well on high-end PCs. Same goes for PS2 emulation.

That's a matter of opinion. I enjoyed ODST a hell of alot more than Uncharted 2.

tbh I'd rather build a HTPC then use a PS3 for emulation.

It's only a matter of time before the first big games that require libraries that are part of hackproof firmware updates.

Im not updating my PS3 in the hope it gets hacked to death like the original xbox, not likely but I can dream cant I. Using wireless dualshocks on a HD screen would integrate things nicely IMO.

going that way - snes, saturn and dreamcast emulators at various stages of development/completion, CFW in progress and software loaders to name but a few....Really early days though - i'd say by this time next year you will probaly have mame/most emu's that run on pcs, multiregion dvd/BR capacity, additional media centres etc etc/abilty to play psp games who knows??
