You can bring up the command list at a touch of a button in practice mode.
There's modes for survival, time trial, combo trial (with demos), story and a basic tutorial.
There's a bunch of stuff to unlock.
The AI is much better and more challenging than in KOF12.
Give it a try at some point, it might erase the bitter memory of KOF12

I tried it last night on PSN but there weren't many players on and everything was showing 1 bar connections. Hopefully it'll pick up now since today is the official release.

I tried the netcode a little bit last night with two friends (all of us based within London) on Xbox live.
First set was a 2 bar connection, although the game runs smoothly there was noticeable input delay (similar to 02UM if you have ever played that over XBL).
The second set was a 3 bar connection, there was still some minor input delay but a lot more playable.

Couldn't even get it to find a game for me this afternoon on XBL.
Liking this a lot though. There's an awful lot to learn for me though, not played a game in this series for some years now. Muscle memory means I'm at least not awful with Mai, but it'll take me a while to pick a team I think.

This won Gamespot's best fighting game award, nice to see it getting some good mainstream recognition for having turned things around.
Also Nests Kyo + stage/theme DLC just got released. Never really used that version before but he seems a lot more interesting than standard Kyo. Lots of rekka chain variations instead of a fireball among other things.
His stage at night is probably the prettiest looking one in the game.

Are people that in love with 2D fighters done with a 3D style such as UMvC3 that anything that 'looks'old is ignored just for that fact? I enjoy UMvC3 but its pick up play style together with quick knock-downs means it doesn't have a as much depth as the likes of KOF XIII in my eyes.
UMvC3 is like Erdinger. A nice German malt beer with lots of taste, flavour and served in a tall unique glass.
KOFXIII is like a fine Yebisu beer. A Japanese region-specific beer, made to the highest standard with a superb crisp taste to it that can't be replicated with any other beer. It just needs to be appreciated.
That's my 2 cents anyway. At 15.00 for what you get you can't go wrong tbh. Or get them both for 40.00. Bargain!
N.B Netcode needs that patch presto. I want some good online play Goddammit!

I don't think it's shameful. Current cost of living against wages=less expendable income for gaming tbh. After all, we aint getting any younger.
a full-priced game is a much bigger consideration nowadays. Guess I need to keep on looking at increasing my job prospects :P
Still, looking forward to geting my hands on alternate Kyo, Iori and Mr. KArate when they become available. Good stuff.
