Had no intention of getting one at first but have been pre-ordering and paying every pay day so I have the motion (?31:85) and navigation controllers (?22:85) already paid for and I did the same for the gun controller (?13:85) this month.

I already have a few games which just need to be patched and I'll probably buy Tumble around launch as long as it turns out OK. Japan is getting the new Ape Escape at launch but I don't really know anything about it yet.

Wasnt intending too. I cant believe the ammount of muppets willing to lob cash at such a load of blatent rip off plastic, that will no doubt end up in a box under the bed in two years time. It makes me mad that our past time is being turned into the bastard child of a tomy toy and a lego brick.

FFS! look at the move controller they didnt hide the fact that its a wii mote very well did they? Its a ping pong ball ahhhhhhhhhh

      all better

Ignoring the obvious fact that Sony and MS are doing some major bandwagon jumping, why dismiss them just on the basis of being a rip off?

Its going to be a fad. And forgotten in a few years. In the mean time every dev is going to go flat out, or maybe forced to try and cash in, leaving very few AAA games for the hardcore.
End result games for gamers will be in a **** state for a while. Or even worse a lot of studios will close as a result of the motion era failure.

This is a worse case but its worth a bit of thought.

Have you played a game using Move (or Kinect) yet?

Labelling it a "rip off" is stupid. Sure, the success of the Wii has influenced both companies, but then progression and evolution are natural. Nintendo introduced motion control the market, it would be stupid for MS and Sony to ignore it. Neither has rushed out with a Me Too product. Both have been developed for a long time, whereas I'm sure both companies could have pumped out a primitive Wiimote clone within 6 months of the Wii launch.

Both offer different propositions to the Wii - Kinect is obviously vastly different, and Move offers much better precision and the camera support.

In the game industry, people follow the advancements. It's a technology driven industry, do not forget. In EVERY OTHER INDUSTRY the manufacturers go where the market wants, and if a new avenue opens up, they'd be fools not to follow it.

The big different between these and Nintendo, is they've not put all their eggs in one basket. It's not like Sony and MS will suddenly forget about their main gamer market (well, that last Kinect-centric MS show had me a bit worried). Kinect and Move are simply extras the consumer can choose to buy, they're not being forced to be used as the standard control system. They give someone like me with a PS3 and 360, and with no desire whatsoever to own a Wii, an alternative for "those kind of games".

And as someone who has spent only a little time on the Wii but frankly thought the control was ****, and thus worthless, the Move looks like it may be what I thought the Wii was. Plus you get the added bonus of HD graphics

              Rip-Off? Not at all.

Fad? Possibly. I don't know anyone who regularly uses their Wii these days....

Myself no, one of our buyers went to E3. His thoughts were the MS didnt work very well but that could of been the setup - ie lights etc.
He thought the Sony system was a good blend of control and interaction and worked well.

Thats besides the point. I was stating my concerns on the future of gaming due to these new versions of motion control. And the long term effects of them on the games market.

oh feck I`ve sidetracked another thread.

Biohazard 5 is gonna be ****ing bad-ass with motion controls.
                  Kept you waiting, huh?

That's running on a PS2 i.e. a demo from years ago. I think you'll find neither Sony nor Microsoft have ripped off anyone, they just both focused on High Def over motion control this gen. Must have seemed* like a good move as clearly motion control can be added on whereas no Wii is gonna be outputting 1080p visuals anytime soon.

*Clearly doing motion control first has netted Nintendo a shed load of dosh so in hindsight...

ok I`ll take back the rip off comment but not my concerns.

Fair enough, I just wanted to know if your concerns/thoughts were based on some hands-on time with either Move or Kinect.

                        It is exactly that.

Heavy Rain is really good with Move too.

tbh based on market trends. Look at the slow down of Wii sales.
                          Saturation?

Oh I'm not arguing that both Move and Kinect are going into a market where the Wii seems to have a stronghold but I do think that calling them "rip-offs" ia a bit harsh. You've taken that comment back now I know but some people will still think that.

As for how popular they will be or how well they will sell.....only time will tell. As you said though, that is a totally different debate and, well, this is the Move thread.

I'm getting Move Day one with Resi 5 and Heavy Rain (neither of which I've played). I'll see what casual games are available as well but TBH Wii Sports Resort pretty much has that covered. What I really want is Socom 4 though and Killzone 3. Shooters = better with analog stick in left hand and pointy thing in right. I skated with a guy who told me that so you know it's FACT!

A more useful Move peripheral. They do a single (i.e. one Move, one nav controller) version as well, and also one that charges a DS3 too.
