There is a surround sound option (on by default) and yes, I believe it has some kind of effect!

I noticed the surround sound whilst playing Face Raiders, really impressive.

The sound in general seems far better quality than the previous DS. But not quite as loud.

I've just played around with a friend's 3DS here at work and I was impressed with the 3D.

However, I had a brief go with the AR cards and... Coming from someone who has played games all their life and knows how they're developed, it almost felt like magic seeing the world being warped into a game.

Despite the lack of games on the system for the launch, I'm sold on the technology.
