Has anyone seen the new 3DS advert? It was on during The Kingdom on ITV last night. Its drive is "Next Generation Graphics". They seem to finally be trying to drive home that this is much more powerfull than DS rather than the 3D aspect. In fact i think the 3D aspect was barely hinted at. They showed Resi Mercs to demonstrate the graphical grunt. The tag line was "This isn't DS, it's 3DS"

My only main gripes design wise are the awful, awful d-pad and horrendous battery life, which is offensively bad. Could have done with a second analogue controller but that's more a wish thing than an actual problem with what's there.

But an improved Lite version wouldn't solve the big issue at all - lack of games. The release schedule is appalling. We expect a trickle close to launch of a new machine but this isn't a trickle, it's close to a total stop with the hope of one drip coming in a couple of months.

Yeah, they made a severe branding error too and there are other issues like the baby steps approach to features (the browser is archaic, for example) but, for those of us who already went and bought it, we need games. Games, games, games.

well I got rid of mine last week - ended up I hardly ever played it and although I did enjoy pilotwings, RR just didnt hold my attention. (All the other stuff I played wasnt that good) and even resi couldnt keep me interested Tried downloading a few games for the e-shop, but older gameboy stuff really doesnt do it for me. That new golf game was technically rubbish - everybodys golf on the psp is light years ahead

The built in stuff was probably the best for me - starfox is tempting but not essential - f-zero would have been a keeper. Another mario game would drive me insane. Glad its gone, as all the gimmics have worn off for me.

The games are coming though, they really are.

A lot of first party stuff, then publishers like Namco and Capcom are supporting them too.

It's suffering from an especially barren summer (there's literally 1 3DS games released from now until september) but the games do pick up in the Autumn.

Exactly, there's not the torrent of releases yet that the NDS has but compared to the PSV line up so far, the 3DS's is packed

i think i will wait for a next iteration of the 3ds (unless i see one dirt cheap which i may be tempted)

main reasons are the battery life...but also i think the top screen is a bit small so i am hoping they release one witha bigger top screen

Which, considering the machine was released in March, is a really sorry state of affairs. And the 'pick up' still doesn't seem to be great, from what I can see, it's just that it's starting from a point close to absolutely nothing that makes it look encouraging.

And comparing it to the PSV seems pretty pointless at this point, given that hasn't even been released yet but the 3DS is five months in.

                    6 weeks until TGS.

The PSV will have its first post-launch games unveiled and we'll be able to see how jittery Japanese devs are about the state of the 3DS. After E3 showed only a tiny handful of third party 3DS titles, we're bound to see more at TGS.

Why should Nintendo release games in the summer, when nobody else bothers?

No more pointless than any other combination of comparisons that are used all the time between current and upcoming systems. The two do share a similar situation and there's little time till the PSV is due to launch with, as at moment, also a very light release list suggesting a similarly hurried launch. The end of year release line up, whilst not busy or exceptional isn't that bad dependant upon personal tastes rather than broad coverage

I cannot say for sure, but with my old specs it took me same time to focus on things, especially if it is dark. With the specs that i now have it is much faster, even better with contacts. Unless he drives, he should not worry about it. If he drives, you probably don't want to sit as a passenger ^^

How about because they launched a new system in the spring and they have damn all games out for it and clearly, given recent events, are having a major problem with it.

So you want them to release games, that aren't ready for release yet, because there aren't enough games out for it? After all, everyone is rushing out to buy the games that have been released, right...right?

This is an import forum, right? Early adopters etc?

Why is this a shock to anyone? :S

its not really an import forum anymore - the import stuff is squeezed into a few headings - change of the times i suppose....
