      Yeah, the price!

Either really good or total fail.

Really good=What you want to pay.
Totally fail=Anything above what you wanna pay.
        Makes sense...

Additionally we want to ensure the best possible gaming experience for our users and there is the possibility that Nintendo 3DS software sold in one region will not function properly when running on Nintendo 3DS hardware sold in another.
Guidance will appear on every packaging of Nintendo 3DS hardware and the accompanying software. If you are in doubt, Nintendo recommends that you only purchase Nintendo 3DS software in the region where purchased your Nintendo 3DS system.
From the sound of that, it sounds like region locking could work out like blu-rays, with the majority being region free (and labeled as such on the case) but with publishers having the option of locking their software. Thats what I'm hoping anyway.

Still, does anyone know a good place to preorder an american import from? I'm keen to get one at launch, but I don't want to get stuck with a region locked console.

              I admire your optimism

I'm hoping for a price of £179.99 and £29.99 for the games, I think £200+ is a bit mad. Roll on 2.00pm, let the hype train commence.

I think Nintendo would be stupid to price it LESS than 200£, at least in the beginning. The first four millions (all they will ship until April?) will fly off the shelves, no matter the price. I'm guessing 249£. Nintendo will probably market the camera, the AR cards and the additional functions as "added value".

Personally I think £250 is simply too much to ask and I think Nintendo would be stupid to set the price at that.

Talking of which, I've been re-reading the book Game Over. Apart from being a great read, there are a couple of passages that could have been written today, especially those covering Nintendos cost vs performance ideology. They've stuck by this strategy forever and it's been proven time and again to work for them.

So, here we are again, on the eve of a new product launch. Yet again we've been informed of the 3ds's innards and how they represent significantly old tech at its core. So far so Nintendo. Are they really going to go against their whole values which Yamamuchi set down and charge massively inflated prices for it? Man, I really hope not, not only because I couldn't afford one but because in my eyes, Nintendo will be betraying their roots.

I reckon their 'guidance' simple means something like "this game will only work on such and such machine" on the box, rather than the possibility of leaving it up to publishers.

Although, even if they did pull that off, I know for a fact that any Japanese game I'll want to get will almost 100% be region-locked. That's been the case so far on the 360, anyway.

Nintendo in the past would never release a handheld that didn't get 6 hours battery life. Even fairly optimistic predictions price this console at almost twice what the DS launched at.

                          Nope, I agree.

I do wonder if Iwata is taking them in the right direction... Reading this book has kind of distilled my thoughts on them. They can be a ruthless company no doubt about it, but for me, their heart has always been in the right place. Ultimately making great, innovative and quality games and hardware.

Anyway, still looking forward to the stuff today! C'mon Nintendo, don't let me down!

Seems like it will be Cosmos Black and Aqua Blue for the euro launch.

People are already in the conference hall so it shouldn't have the normal Ninty conference delay.

                            10 mins left.

And in typical fashion our network can't handle the stream. Bah.
