It looks exactly what the game needs for a bit of content, a nice bit of throwaway fun. Daftness, cameos in the cards and ends up offering something more akin to smash bros than the vanilla mode. Hopefully you can randomise the card choice for 2 player.

          It is therefore, awesome.

The alternate character colours for Phoenix (and Maya) are pretty fun.

I'd love this to be a one on one fighter. I wonder why they didn't have that as an extra mode?

I utterly agree with you - I find myself thinking that every time I put it on.

Which is why the Card mode could be excellent fun, with so many varients (some of which are obviously crap) it'll make multiplayer more enjoyable.

Where abouts is the option for this? (This doesn't mean to sound narky - genuine question.)

One of the challenge options changes it to one on one if I remember rightly. It's nowhere near as much fun like that though, the game is balanced for three on three.

                          What, what, what!

Can anyone confirm. Would do myself, but I have traded my copy in, in antcipation of getting the new version. Knowing my luck the 1 on 1 mode wont be in the new version.

yeah there is a one vs one mode called the rules have changed which you can select in the event part when signed online

though you still have to fight both the heralds and galactus

As a big SF fan, I'm thinking about getting UMvC3 - I skipped MvC3 completely because I've always found the verses games perplexing, I messed around with them all in the arcade back in the day, but never more than just passing time - I always found the super jumping and cancelling this, cancelling that and 4 million hit combos too perplexing, but I'd like to get into it this time round since Ultimate seems such a great package.

Can I get into it this late, or I will be totally annihilated online?

There'll be plenty of other like-minded types dipping their toes in around launch, not to mention vets experimenting with new characters, but obviously over time people will be getting better and/or dropping out, making it get much fiercer as times goes on. If you're going to enjoy it, I'd say now is the time to do it! I personally enjoyed MvC3 much more than 2, and found additions like Mission mode really helped me get to grips with some of the unique aspects of the game too.
