I like Edges writing and enjoyed the review of SMG2. Subtle changes is the name of the game for me, I`m still happy with Gran Turismo and Pro Evo Soccer if it keeps the core game mechanics and tries to add a bit more. I think RE4 is the best game as although the tension was lower as a game in general I thought it offered more variety. Nice thoughts peeps.

Its just really is unfair.
Don't know about the SMG2 comparison haven't played that but I agree about SF4/SSF4. To give them 9 or 10 was well over the top for a game that does nothing special especially if their marking down other fighters that have far more to them. I have to agree about Edge's writing style, I prefer a review which gets to the main points and doesn't try to be too clever with it's wording. It's not been the same since the likes of Mean Machines/CVG.

As for RE: Code Veronica I also find that it had the best storyline, characters and atmosphere in the series and some of the best music too. None of the subsequent RE's have given me a comparable experience. RE:Remake was scary but it couldn't match CV's story or cast of characters. The original RE4 might have been the game to do it but it was axed. The actual RE4 is a really good game but it's not the experience old RE was which might be gone for good now. Didn't think much of RE5 but I'll give Lost in Nightmares a try.

Thank You . Yes like I said, That's what I liked so much about the MM reviews, short and straight to the point . I remember the Half-Life review in CVG, get ?1000 and buy a PC and this game, That is really all one needed to know .

I don't mind the like of SF IV getting high marks, just don't then mark down the likes of VF 5 for being more of the same .

Yes the storyline and atmosphere in CV was just unbeatable , and the cast of characters simply brilliant, it was also the last RE game to feel scary (for me) . Looking back its one of my gaming experiences on the DC , and one of the best games ever made imo. One of those games I didn't want to end, and where I can't think of anyway, it could have been made better. It just a shame its somewhat over looked even by DC fans, who'll always go on about Shennmue or what ever . CV for me , what much better .

It's telling that CV is the only one of the Resi games where they had to SERIOUSLY simplify the plot to get it to work as a lightgun title for Chronicles- witness Alexia suddenly being able to talk after her transformation and her decision to kill Alfred, which makes her motivation a bit of a shambles. It just seems to have a thematic depth that isn't present in the other games, with the ant images and mirroring the Redfield and Ashford siblings' relationships. Flagship were obviously trying to repeat their sucess in Zero, but there weren't enough characters and the thing lacked coherancy.
