I downloaded a trial to a 3d helicopter game last night and I did it through the night because it's 1gig

Woke up this morning and it was downloaded, extracted and the PS3 has turned itself off

    Seems the machines are rising

PSplus has auto install and auto off, which you dont get without it on ps3, very handy feature.

I'm pretty sure that's a standard feature. Plus just gets the auto updates where it turns on at the designated time.

whatevere happened to content that would be pushed to your console?

I'm happy about the auto update

But I've never seen a game extract itself once it had downloaded - normally I had to do it manually via the capsule on the front end

          But defo very handy

Quickie guys from an XBOX convert who will be switching to PS4...

Can you register for PS+ and 'purchase' free games before you have a PS4/Vita console?

I ask, because I'm getting a PS4 and Vita at Christmas, but don't want to miss out on any freebies.

You can do via the web based PlayStation Store. As long as you "buy" them on there they're yours, you can add them to your download queue but you don't need to.

It's not as good as Microsoft's version yet so you'll have to be a little patient when using it.

Sorry, should say as well that you can also subscribe to Plus on there but it's probably cheaper to subscribe via a third party shop.
              90 Days - ?11:99
              1 Year - ?39:99

They seem to do offers a couple of times a year where they drop it down to ?29:99 or add an extra three months on top of the ?39:99 price. Apart from when it launched I've only ever paid the ?29:99 and have bought a couple each time recently so our is covered for years.

Bit of a risk but hopefully it carries on being as good as it has been.

Thanks mate, I'll wait until it goes down to the ?29.99 then snap a few up. With getting the PS4 and Vita, it seems like very good value. Assume there's no expiration date when your purchase a code if you don't want to use it right away? And do they stack if I get like a bonus code from somewhere or whatever?

they do stack - im good until 2018

but the online store maybe once a year offer the subscription at a reduced rate

try curry's they seem to have them at ?29.99 alot

I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is expiration dates on the codes but as mentioned they are stackable, we're covered until 2017. It's not cheap doing it that way if you're paying ?29 for each year but over the year of that subscription it's stupidly cheap.

Depending on what games you're interested in it's not as if it's expensive if you have to pay full price for it at the moment, remember games only stay up temporarily and it's worth thinking about what you're going to gain/lose by waiting to subscribe cheaper.

You may have already seen it but this is what's changing this month and some games are being removed tomorrow so you need to subscribe today if you want to download them, even if you just subscribe for three months. As long as you've "bought" them you'll still have access to them if you resubscribe at a later date.

The PlayStation Blog does a list like this every month and it's worth mentioning that some games may only be up for a week or two so it's worth paying attention to them. It's unusual for them to be less than a month though and it's usually newer stuff.

                    Being Removed
                    • (3rd July) Kingdoms of Amalur ? Reckoning - PS3
                    • (3rd July) Lord of the Rings War in the North - PS4
                    • (3rd July) The Cave - PS4
                    • (3rd July) Rayman Origins - Vita
                    • (3rd July) Coconut Dodge - Vita

                    New
                    • (3rd July) Battlefield 3 - PS4
                    • (3rd July) Payday: The Heist - PS4
                    • (3rd July) Saints Row the Third - PS4
                    • (3rd July) Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus - Vita
                    • (3rd July) Unit 13 - Vita

Is it worth you paying ?11:99, or maybe even less, for all those games and all the additional content for the rest of the three months? Have you got any of those games on disc and would you make the ?11:99 back if you traded them in?

They also add things like themes and avatars but they don't seem to mention stuff like that as much.

I have mentioned it before but I'm not sure if people pay attention but any of the games that have a Full Game Trial (Gives you the full game for a 60 minute trial) can be downloaded in advance by Plus subscribers and it will just unlock itself when it becomes part of the Plus service.

Although not quite the same thing Payday: The Heist has a trial and unlock so if you download the trial in advance you just need to download the unlock key when it goes live on Plus.
Battlefield 3 in particular is one to get out of the way as soon as you can as it's going to be massive and there will be millions of people downloading the full game when it goes live on Plus. It's a bit late now as it's happening tomorrow in the UK but I usually download stuff well in advance if it's available.

With the Full Game Trial it's worth mentioning to you that your save carries over into the complete game when it's unlocked so you just carry on playing as normal and you're playing exactly the same game and you've kept any trophies you've unlocked.

It's worth having a look at the Plus Discount section because although it can be hit and miss with prices at times you do get some really good deals and there may be stuff you want there that will lose the discount tomorrow.

the actual battlefield game is quite small compared to uncharted for example - from memory its around 8-10g

there might be a few updates though

                      Comment

Yeah, I think it's about 12 or 13 GBs initially. From memory the patches are massive though as there's been a few and I seem to remember some around 10GBs each.

Thinking about that when I say patches I think you also have to download the expansion packs even if you don't buy them which I suppose accounts for the size. I've not tried the downloaded version yet but I've still got all the expansions installed so hopefully there won't be too much after the initial download.

Downloaded them all yesterday (unsure why you originally had them as PS4 )

13GB in size but the update is only 2GB to take you to version 1.09 - no expansion packs included or to download
                            • (3rd July) Payday: The Heist - PS3
Update was around 3.5GB and it downloads the trial and unlock first
                            • (3rd July) Saints Row the Third - PS3
7GB and no update to download

                            • (3rd July) Unit 13 - Vita
Just under 1GB with a wee update

Payday is one of the best games on PS3 IMO.
                              Kept you waiting, huh?

When you buy the free games bundled with the PS+ offers, it says "If you?re a PlayStation?Plus member, you can download this item at no extra cost and it?s yours to keep until your subscription ends."

Does that mean if you don't continuously renew, you lose those titles, or does it mean if your subscription expires and you're unable to renew straight away (maybe you're on holiday, in jail, in a coma or serving in the army), they become available again after subscribing again?
