The demo for origins is one of the best I've played in ages. Platforming, 2D shmup and swimming levels. Nice.

I'm buying this full price to show support - I can always buy Uncharted 3 or Dark Souls second hand after new year. This is the kind of platforming I've been hoping for since 3D took hold and we stopped getting decent SNES-styled platformers. There's been a few decent 2D games on modern consoles (Muramasa for example), but they're a rare thing, especially in HD. Or worse, they're digital downloads only.

I am so impressed that Ubi are selling this on disc. It's going to tank, but I appreciate the sentiment.

At least try to think positive for rayman sake.

I have enjoyed all the rayman platform games over the years so am really looking forward to this. My only moan with the demo is the animation of rayman he seemed to be a bit wooden and lifeless.

You're right. I think this might revitalise people's interest in hi-def 2D platformers and it will sell bucketloads for the Christmas period. The fact it's on disc and NOT digital download is a genius move, because that means parents will be buying it as a gift - whereas on digital download it's up to the account holder.

Also, the PS1 was supposed to be the system that made 3D desirable, right? And yet according to statistics the original Rayman was the best-selling game on the system.

Yes, I think if they play the marketing right this could be the Christmas no.1 game.

Christmas No.1 would be great for the title but just can't see it happening, I mean Zumbe Fitness 2 is out on the same day!
Man I wish I had Friday off instead of tomorrow to play this, first thing I thought from the demo is I cannot wait to 100% this game try and find every little secret and beat the time trial levels.
Hoping that Ubi will use the engine to create more 2D based games, wouldn't mind going over a new Prince of Persia using this engine.

Sounds good Yesteryear, I'll have to get Kirby and Sonic 3DS at some point I think. Got Mario 3D on day one, but Rayman Origins is my most anticipated game of the year, just a question of which version to get.

I'm a 'PSWii60' owner, but I've got an import PS3, but no HDTV as yet, so some PAL games won't work, I'm sick of messing about with batteries on the 360 though, and to a lesser extent the Wii. The PS3 has the worst controller though, decisions, decisions...

I loved the original on the PS1, it's a worthy best seller for the system I'd say, I played it recently though and couldn't get past the rock world, lives not reappearing in levels you've completed was a pain, I completed it when I first had it, albeit I couldn't get past the lobster boss, so copied my sisters save game after she did it, then completed it before her, she was't very happy about that for some reason!

I thought I was better at platformers now than I was then, so it's weird I struggled more this time... I might have to dig my PS1 or PS2 out and start over before Origins comes out...

Oh, and a 2D Prince of Persia using this engine would be very cool, let's hope it happens!

****. It's region locked, at least, Pal doesn't work on my NTSC J.

Is that on PS3? Thanks for the info if so, tough break for you though!

I have a feeling you're going to say 360 though, since te PS3 is technically region free, if not 100% in practice... I'm sure there's no reason why an update couldn't let import PS3's play PAL optimised games on SDTV's though, just shadiness on their part.

I assume you're joking and mean you don't have one? If not, Playstation 3...

Oh that dusty thing in the corner, I remember.

No, 360 version. All PS3 games are region free, no?

Import PS3's don't support 576P or whatever it is PAL optimised games run at, so if you don't have an HDTV...

FYI, obviously this can't be taken as literal as it's just from what I overheard. I've just been to my local HMV to trade some games in and the staff were labelling up tomorrows releases. Under main discussion was Rayman Origins as they were labelling it up for an instore price of ?43. One peep asked why it cost so much to which the answer was because it is expected to fail at retail and it will look like an attractive price drop when it takes effect. Sounded like it's a Boxing Day cert so I'm defo waiting.

I'll still buy it on day one, if everyone does that it's bound to flop. If there's one game that deserves more discerning gamrs buying it on day one it is this, and I think everyone should do so! Wait for stuff like MW3 to come down in price instead, these identikit FPS' deserve to flop if anything, not something offering something different like this.

People who wait for a price drop don't deserve to get 2D Prince of Persia or whatever else they might use this engine for - and probably won't get them because they won't be made.

Don't buy the normal version for ?43 though if you can avoid it! The Wii version is ?25 through billybargain.co.uk and PS360 version's are ?30...
