Super Mario All-Stars heading to Wii?

    via Eurogamer...

Japanese retailers have reportedly leaked news that Nintendo will launch a Wii version of the Super Nintendo's Super Mario All-Stars compilation next month.

Andriasang reports that retailers were briefed on Super Mario Collection Special Pack today and that it is a revival of All-Stars, which included Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 and 3 plus The Lost Levels on a single cartridge.

Apparently the game is due out on 21st October for 2500 yen (?19 / ?23) and will also come with a Super Mario History 1985-2010 booklet and a soundtrack CD covering the entire series right up to Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Nintendo hasn't confirmed those details, but has confirmed other details that reportedly came from the same briefing, including Japanese dates for Golden Sun and Kirby's Epic Yarn.

If it's the exact same All-Stars as before then I'm not fussed with this. If it's fairly comprehensive with World and Yoshi's Island etc in then I might

^Yeah, for such an occasion, I'd like to see something 'complete'. Sticking the Snes rom on a disc wouldn't really cut it. There'd be no excuse for not having Super Mario World at least.

It could be the three games remade in the NSMB engine couldn't it?

Nintendo wouldn't quite be so shameless as to just put a snes rom on a CD would they?

            Would they?

            ;_;

Well seems Nintendo have confirmed it's real, but just not what it actually is yet.

The pictures seem to confirm it's the Snes rom... which is fine as long as there's more stuff on there too. I don't understand the lack of Mario World though, was the Mario All Stars+Mario World cart ever released in Japan?

Urgh, FAIL of epic proportions. Considering this is Mario's 25th Anniversary this is probably the one of the laziest ways they could have gone for celebrating it. Mario Party 9 would have been a better announcement. Ah well, there's always Donkey Kong Country Returns

Wow, that is pretty awful by Nintendo. Giving a full release to a SNES rom and justifying it by bundling a bit of special edition tat?

Well there's one good thing about it. If your console ever dies at least you won't have to pay again for it (my biggest gripe with the wii)

                          Blagged from Kotaku.

The Wii reissue will feature special packaging. Included will be a booklet called "Super Mario History 1985-2010" as well as a CD of Mario music ranging from the original game to Super Mario Galaxy 2.

An a5 booklet with just 30 pages no doubt. I'd be willing to bet the CD is one of these 10 track sample discs that doesn't really feature any high profile tunes.

I really get tired of half hearted 'special editions'. I want a full artbook and a CD which doesn't have to contain every piece of music but at least contains all the main pieces (and lasts for at least an hour).
