I don't want to open a first play thread on this so I'm going a bit off-topic here but...what an abysmal collection.
Starting the game: no classic controller support. Menu: same images used on the SNES. Select one: there's the button layout for a SNES pad. This is an offense to Mario, not a celebration. Sega did an awesome job with their Ages collections and while I already knew that Nintendo wouldn't do something that good, I thought they will at least go a step beyond a repackaging.
The games themselves are wonderful (even SMB2 evokes sweet memories), but the collection itself is something to be forgotten.

Sega Ages love aside, I can't disagree with anything here - and I bought a copy of SMAS 25th Anniversary. Had it not been for the cheap-ish price, I wouldn't have gone anywhere near it. On my shelf it will stay.

Much, MUCH better is deserved for arguably the most important and/or most popular and/or influential videogame character ever.

Such laziness reminds me of this IGN article.

To be honest, the physics/inertia in Super Mario All-Stars has always been "wrong" when compared to the NES versions of the games. I can't see how remaking SMAS with the New SMB engine could make that any worse.

Is that true? I've only ever played several of these games in the SNES version of All-Stars...
