If it requires an arcade stick then I'm cross-legged on the floor about three feet from the telly. During sessions of Blazblue I find that my legs go completely dead and I have to physically shift them into another position with my hands. It's a bit worrying.

If I'm using a regular controller then the sofa does me fine.

No matter what I play, I always sit on the floor about 2ft from the screen.

I've thought about this; how closer i'd be to the screen in I were in an arcade ... but I still do most of my gaming from the sofa, occasionally getting a little closer sat on the rug. But I never get 'arcade close' at home.

I wouldn't even consider sitting right in front of the telly, I like the comfort of being sat on the sofa or chair with my feet up. But then, i've got a 'big' TV so it's not a problem. When I bought the cab I actually found it quite difficult to get used to being that close to the screen.

For me it depends on the game. Shooters as in real shooters not FPS games I sit close to the TV but for anything else I'm almost 2 meters back from the TV. PLaying something like Forza 3 right next to the screen is very tough.

I play at a desk, so it's up close for me unless I want the stick on my lap and a stiff arm afterwards. I tend to sit back a bit if I'm playing other genres though- a 24" monitor can be quite overbearing. If I'm playing a PC FPS I usually set it to a 4:3 resolution and turn 1:1 pixel mapping on for a smaller screen size if the game allows for it.

Usually sat on the floor with legs akimbo (gotta keep stretching). It's excellent for causing massive back pain.
