Ico & Shadow of the Colossus HD remakes

Not hugely surprising but still the another step towards eventual confirmation. Oh my, if true, this will be fantastic, my two favourite console games of the last generation at the very least.

Walmart is taking pre-orders for a box set of popular Playstation 2 action games ICO and Shadow of the Colossus for the Playstation 3 for just under $40.

That's quite obviously mock-artwork though as a) there's none listed at Walmart for the pre-order (or date sadly) b) It's likely to have the Classics HD logo that the Sly pack has and c) Well it's just poor.

:edit: apologies I did search before I posted this as a new thread and found this link below that relates to this but then obviously still went ahead & submitted the new thread. Oops.

    Price looking to be £24.99.

The heavily rumoured ICO / Shadow of the Colossus high definition PlayStation 3 collection will be released in March or…

Hopefully that means we can expect The Last Guardian next spring/summer. Looking forward to playing these again though if they're done to the same level of quality that God of War was.

The God of War Collection was mostly good, but there were a few things that made it feel lazy. The SD FMVs (perhaps this would have been to much work, but couldn't they just render them at a higher resolution?), the SD in game cutscenes (eg when it pans around a level or something, it just looks terrible. From memory this seemed to be limited to the first game though) and a few minor things like not being able to go back to the main menu once you've selected a game, having to access the bonus videos through the ps3 menu etc all made it feel a little bit cheap or something.

Well it was a little bit cheap. Still great fun though.

The worry for me is that it would probably be (or has been?) farmed out to a 3rd party developer, because the real Team Ico would no doubt be too busy with Last Guardian.

That's never been something I'm comfortable with, ever since Silicon Knights wrecked Metal Gear Solid in fact.

God of War Collection was done by Blue Point Games with 'help' from Santa Monica.

Ico / Shadow didn't have any FMV did it? Not that I can remember so SD cutscenes won't be such an issue.

I guess it's time to sell the originals while they're still worth something

No, but what do you call cutscenes that are rendered with the game engine, but not possible in real time? From memory the opening to SotC was like that, but I can't remember if it was anywhere else. They were probably the biggest offender in the GoW collection.

Anyhow, I've never completed a playthrough of SotC and I've never even played Ico, so this should be great. A rock solid frame rate and resolution bump will make it infinitely more playable too I should think.

No doubt its not going to be out untill next year, in the mean time you should think about playing the originals. You wont notice the frame rate etc as both games are such an Immersive experience.

Unfortunately it was the frame rate that made SotC unplayable for me.
                    Looking forward to this.

Yeh the framerate was abysmal so having a silky smooth version in glorious HD will just be astounding. I was always sorry I never played it again and I think I always wished something like this would come out to play it again properly.

I regret selling my copy of Ico without giving it much play time. I also missed out on SotC, so I will be definitely picking this up.

This cover art has started going up with the collection listing on a couple of European online shops now.

This one is from a Swedish shop and carries a release date of April which seems to be what they all expect at the moment. It doesn't contain the obtrusive Classic HD branding that was shown on The Sly Collection so there's no guarantee this is final or even genuine.

April. So close, yet so far.

I love both games so this has already gone to the top of my most wanted list.

I take it you had the pal version? I had the jp version on a test unit.
