Plus achievements! Everyone loves achievements!
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, there is no multiplayer outside of the co-op.They are bundling some maps for halo reach with it though, presumably they including a multiplayer disc ala ODST with said maps.I'm looking forward to playing it all the way through, I don't think I played every level , just the fun ones. Either that or it was pretty forgettable compared to the multiplayer.

Did anyone really like the original Halo, only by adding online multiplayer did it take off :P

I played endless hours of system link halo and a fair bit of split screen co-op, but most of it seemed to be a couple of the most fun levels.

The original Halo campaign is a masterpiece of games design. I'm not into FPS games at all, but it would be a strong candidate for best game ever made IMO.

I get the feeling that'll feel a bit antiquated now it's not so fresh

It's still a brilliant game. I recently played through most of it on Legendary (Games On Demand version) and apart from some slightly dated graphics, it played brilliantly. Easily the best Halo campaign in the series.

I have played Halo 1 after playing Halo 2 and I cannot agree that eithe rare best FPS level design ever. I do agree Halo has its place it certainly has been/is very polished and well balanced though. I wonder if I will end up getting this for the multiplayer though. Halo 3 had some great multiplayer maps but my favourite multiplayer maps are still from Unreal Tournament Face and Morpheus.

That's probably spot on. Games, especially defining ones, are very much a product of their time. They come along, give you something different (in this case a great single player FPS title on a console), and effectively inform subsequent games.

Halo was an Amazing Game. I completed it once, then immediately restarted it on Legendary. I battled through that ****er, and upon completion thought, "If only there was some way to show online this achievement!" I'm a standard bearer like that....

But that was then, and this is now. The FPS genre has moved on. I've found later Halo games tiring. As stirring as that soundtrack is, I realise I'll never recapture those halcyon days, of getting through the end of the game in the jeep, loving every minute of it. It's a moment in my personal gaming history. As awesome as it was, things have moved on.

I have equally fond memories of Doom, but having played that again quite recently, man has the genre moved on!

MS should of made this a first quarter release, when things are quiet. It's end of this year right? Madness. I'm surprised they've not shoehorned Kinect in it somehow.

Don't worry that is for Halo 4/6 :P

Presumably Sony will use a version of the engine they're using for Last Guardian and 343 will use an engine from one of the 360 Halo games? I don't think it's fair to imply that the Sony HD games are in any way less of an offering than halo ce hd really.

EDIT: To be clear - I'm saying the ICO/SOTC pack is as good value Propsition as the updated Halo CE. I realise the new CE has extra multiplayer shenanigans included.
Ah ok, shows what I know. In that case the price is probably on the high side.

Slightly off topic: Did the PoP, Sly and Tombraider packs get the same treatment as ICO/SotC?

I they're very different titles. Correct me if I'm wrong, but ICO/SotC weren't big, popular sellers, yet have a mystique among gamers of a certain mindset. They are truly classics which should play well even today, with unique experiences.

The titles you mention were popular hits, with sequels galore.

As such, I see ICO/SotC as "worthy" of an HD upgrade, while the others have lived on through their sequels. Except Sly, which I thought was a quick and cheap experiment to see if there was a market for a full blown new title.

Back in the day it was a good launch title for the system and a fun half-a-campaign till the famous library and lazy second half which just regurgitated the first half. It just has very little to offer people now except for hardcore fans as there's been so many similar sequels since it came out. Nice collectors item for fans but that's all

As much as I'd love to answer that again, I'm not going to.

My mates are I all thought the sequals were kind of poor until the fantastic Reach. Loathed Halo 2 and thought number 3 was decent enough in solo and co-op but felt to me like a rehash of the first game, versus was still rubbish though. This remake is pretty much a day one purchase for all of us.
