I don't buy many beat 'em ups, but I purchased Tekken 6 on release date (paid full price) and was looking to buy MVC3 also, but am I alone in feeling that ?40 is too much? The beat 'em up style is so one dimensional, granted games add in extra gametypes etc, I just feel like you don't get alot of game for your money. 10 enviroments and a selection of characters

Anyone else begrudge paying retail price for a Beat 'em Up?

Depends on the game. I wouldn't pay full price for Tekken since it'll be one game I'm not interested in, but Street Fighter 4 and its Super iteration have collectively cost me £55 and that's been a very worthwhile investment. I've got mates who play the game and we're generally at a pretty decent standard. I've played the game far more than I would have expected so it's been a great buy.

I payed full price for Street Fighter 4, I'm rubbish at it online and hardly play it, so I probabaly shouldnt have bought it, but its still a good game so I have kept it in my collection.
However I dont think Ive ever paid full whack for any other beat em up before, I just dont play them enough to justify the price, even the ones that feature 500000 hit combos never seem to have much depth to them to me.

I would however pay ?40 for a HD remake of Capcom VS SNK as for me that is the best fighter around.

I'm sick of 60 hour 3D fetch quests and first-person shooters.
Beat-em-ups and 2D shmups offer precision and beauty in small but refined packages.

My thought is as long as you get fun and enjoyment out of it then the price is an off thought , i mean you can say the same about most FPS game the core single player is short but the deeper you get into the game and better you get the more fun you have and then there if your brave and feel your good there is online
that is what i think

Paid full whack for Tekken6 & although I've had my fair share of whinges have really enjoyed it and still play it today.
For me, far more challenges than your average FPS, time challenge, survival, scenario etc.
