That Bizarre refusing Nascar rumour is false. And the guy who posted it says it was a guess than fact.

Anyway Eutechnyx are developing Nascar currently.

Could be rubbish but apparently several potential buyers are already circling including MS

GamesRadar+ takes you closer to the games, movies and TV you love.

Seems Activision is making a wider cull as another studio gets axed. The closing of Budcat is probably due to the Hero series tailing off now and with the amount of stalling titles Activision has released this year they're probably wanting to make savings before the end of the financial year to save face. If not shortly, I'd expect after next year the team/s responsible for Tony Hawks titles to get dropped too as that series is pretty much a rotten corpse at this point.

Its a bad time for developers, so much for recession proof. I kinda knew that was a joke when people started touting it. Millions spent for not a full return. Too many average games within the past 5 years. Prices then slashed because the retailers need shelf space. I can remember not so long back less games but overall better quality but this obviously didnt suit the money grabbers.

Looks like no buyer has been found and they will be closed fully. Bloody shame to all

Agreed, this is a great shame. They are responsible for one of my all time favourite games, MSR. When I got that game it was pure racing perfection for me, I just couldn't put it down. They continued with the PGR series which got better with each release and is still one of the xbox's strongest franchises.

I played the demo of Blur and although it was ok, it wasn't great and prefered Split Second's racing and gameplay. I understand what they were trying to achieve with Blur but if felt so far removed from everything that I liked about PGR that it felt like it had been done by another developer. It could just be their lack of releases over the last few years which led to the closure. They just didn't have many IPs that were generating money.

It's a shame just how much some publishers now demand of a developer.

Yes, everyone knew how much talent Bizzare had with the MSR, PGR and Geometry Wars series', but once bought by Activision they were expected to put out quality titles from the off, and after just 2 poor selling games they are being put down.

Sometimes you just think what some developers could do if they had some more time to be creative, time to think of new ideas and are allowed to release a few duffers now and again, but that's not how the majority of the industry seems to work at the moment.

It's because development costs are so high for the HD systems. Even last gen u needed to sell far fewer units to break even so could take more gambles. Just 1 flop can wipeout even higher profile developers finances now

Very true, its all a big gamble at the end of the day. I heard some of the Bizarre guys have already moved along to new positions. Hopefully the remainder will find something soon.

Couldn't we pool the Blue member contributions and buy up some of the IP? Famidude could lead the team developing Blur 2.

This is pretty terrible news though - I'm really surprised Microsoft didn't pick them back up - but people said there was bad blood there so... sigh.

MS have Turn 10, no real need for two racing studios on the books. (They never actually owned Bizarre, they just published PGR)

Massive shame they are to close. I've liked all of the games they have produced (although hated the after-support/community aspect, and they always LOVED banging onto the likes of EDGE magazine and the like on how they employed a whole community team who always largely ignored ANY post made on the forums, especially with PGR4).

Still, major shame, especially with their racing game experience. PGR3 was my first real online game I had, so memories there.

Bizarre have put out their final piece of work, a very touching video.

Liverpool developer Bizarre Creations closes today – and it's said goodbye with a touching video showcasing its superb …

I was introduced to Bizarre Creations through Formula One on the PlayStation and every single one of their racing game afterwards has been about distilling what makes racing so exciting, through a beautifully inspired, arcade handling model.

It's a great shame one of the best racing game developers is closing today.

A real shame. The whole PGR series was probably my favourite ever racing series.
I discovered it via PGR on xbox which I played a bit of, PGR 2 was then release and I played a LOT of it, with some MSR chucked in for good measure.

When the 360 was released, I couldn't wait to get my hands on 3. It did exactly what I wanted it to, and lead to lots of online play and a platinum quest.
4 was a bit of a let down to me, and Blur, whilst a decent game, wasn't the same.

Plus, Geo Wars - hours wasted and i'm still crap at it. A sad day.
