According to what I quoted they are the PC versions. The differences they mention could be something as simple as things like resolution, texture quality etc.

Although I can't find anything confirming the resolution on the original Xbox I've found comments about the PC version that anything above 640x480 is going to be an improvement over the console version.

There's also comments concerning different shader models which don't mean anything to me.

I imagine if the original version was natively rendered at 640x480 (I don't know if it is) then Ubisoft would likely be wanting people to be thinking of the PC version rather than the Xbox version when thinking of spending money on a HD collection.

This wouldn't be the first of these collections that have been rumoured to the use the PC assets but I think this is the first time apart from in Medal of Honor: Frontline where it's been confirmed that it was PC assets being used.

There was talk previously that Sony was supplying some sort of recompiling software to companies wanting to port older PC games although I'm not sure if that's ever been confirmed by Sony.

It shouldn't really matter where the source material originates though, surely what's important is how that material ends up working when people are playing it.

I might revisit these when the HD set is released. I'll see how I feel when it comes out.

Are you kidding me? No multiplayer? That's a real shame, Spys vs Mercs is some of the best competitive multiplayer ever created and the Chaos Theory coop was incredible.

I love the SP on these, couldn't care less about the MP. :-)

I couldn't care less about almost all MP to be fair - that said, I do like me some co-op action on occasion. But I enjoyed each of these as a SP only experience, so the opportunity to play through them again in HD is welcome.

It's just been rated by the BBFC which means the previously announced Q2 release is looking likely.

When the ESRB rated it at the beginning of the year it was registered as for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, hence the thread title change, but Ubisoft were apparently having problems with Microsoft allowing a release for some according to rumours that I'd read.

The Prince of Persia HD Trilogy was also rated for the 360 at the same time so hopefully they'll both get a release at some point. There's no mention of which format this collection has been rated for on the BBFC but again, hopefully it'll be both for the 360 only users who are interested in the games.

Has the quality of the remakes been known yet? I hope to god they're not using the PS2 versions...

I'm the exact opposite.....the multiplayer was the most fun i've had onlline to this day. Intimate 2v2 teamwork, with ingenious design.

I hope they release the multiplayer as a standalone etc, but i dont think they would want to undermine the vastly inferior deniable ops on conviction. Real shame.

The PS2/Cube versions were almost total remakes of the PC/Xbox version. Totally different geometry , not just the usual extra jaggies and reduced quality texture and Lighting. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a different engine altogether.Video here if you are curious, it's like night and day watching the 2 versions.

The splinter cell series seems to always have some funny stuff like that going on. There seem to be at least 2 versions of each game in the series

At least the cube/PS2 and xbox/PC versions played the same. From memory the cube/ps2/xbox versions of double agent were completely different games to the 360/PC

PS3 was 360 style. Personally I think the fact there are two versions of Double Agent is awesome. 360 version was the best in the series and having extra levels via the Xbox version was a treat.

This is PS3 only isn't it? I think the thread title needs changing if that's the case, I'm disappointed every time this gets bumped and I check *just in case*
