Why don't you just show me my wife's head in a box, it'd hurt less.

I take full responsibility for delivering to you, Xexex, a column that you find uninteresting. Not everyone likes Letter FA. The pseudonym however, well, that was more the choice of games?. To be honest, it makes sense. I've been a videogames journalist for six or so years -- headed a magazine for two of those -- and hiding behind a false name completely separates me from all that. It also means I can speak freely about companies without those companies linking my comments to old politics.

      Besides, I'm shy.

Anyway, back to g? and all that. I bet you still can't even crash the cars in Gotham 2. I mean really crash them, end-over-end. All these gorgeous racers, such phony physics. Burnout 2 is still the only place to see a decent wreck. Pah. Give me the original team from Need For Speed 3DO, an Xbox, and a year. I'll show you.

only people who worry about 'realistic' crash physics are those that aren't good enough not to crash in the first place

and concerning Need for Speed 3do - still one of my fav racers of all time even if i did spend hours just doing doughnuts

Its strange to be picked upon from writing under a strange name...from a poster called Xexex ;-) (Hi Tim.. *waves*)

It's nice to know theres an interesting reason for it though.

Can one of you two explain what you mean by these Nathan Barley/lifestyle gamers, etc? I've seen your complaints about them, but fail to understand what kind of people you're talking about - can you describe them?

It's a type of person thought up by journalist Charlie Brooker - writes for The Guide and did TvGoHome and write for OPS2M - it's a kind of wannabee, too cool for school insincere idiot, who goes for things because they are cool not because he likes them - think of a stereotype person that reads The Face and buys every item on the fashion/tech pages. So at the moment he'd have a pair of Oakleys on, wearing a wristband, listening to an iPod while playing on his N-Gage or Xelebri phone.

Think is, I've never met a gamer like this, and can't help but think saying as such is just some sly slur about someone. Why not just outright say it - that's what I want to know.

He probably means the type who jumped on the bangwagon in around 1996, at the time of Wipeout et al, when gaming was supposedly the new cool...

The Treasure Island Dizzy double page spread made me smile. Lovely.

Shame it was the Spectrum version and not the C64 one. Yes, I'm sad enough to be able to tell the difference.

From what I read in his column just now, he was talking about people who harp on about how games should be more mass-market and feel worried about what non-gamers will think of them. He said the Japanese don't care about this and just get on with enjoying the games.
