Capcom couldn't get SCEA's approval to release Capcom Generations on the PSX in the US, but it did get a PAL release.

The most notable quirky games to get PAL Sony releases but not touched in the US:

      Vib Ribbon and Bishi-Bashi

Have to point out... why do you think Capcom is releasing Bombastic over here (UK) when it's a Sony Japan game? Couldn't be because Sony Europe turned it down... could it? Oh, yes it could. Bah.

They are either drunk on power or really stupid. Maybe they want it in some sort of "collection". Yeah they gave Working Designs **** for Growlancer 2 and 3 as well.

Makes no difference to me. **Cradles Japanese PS2**
Metal Slug 3 here I come!

I wish we got more quirky stuff translated though. Games like Bishi Bashi Special, Incredible Crisis and Vib Ribbon made the PSX special to me. Hopefully with the PS2 userbase getting bigger here we'll see more of that and hopefully SCEE wont get pissy like SCEA, although I did hear they tried to block the release of Psyvariar. Is this true?

Im not saying this is right but perhaps sony dont want something that looks so old skool on their console? I mean they might think it spoils their image as a high graphics platofrm or whatever and they think someone might buy it and think all games are like it??

SCEE have also turned down: Final Fantasy X-2, Xenosaga: Episode I, Wild Arms 2 +3, Otostaz, Kinetica, XI sequels, Kurushi sequels, Arc The Lad series, KA, Bravo Music, Phase Paradox, My Summer Vacation series, Everybody's Golf 3 and Blood: The Last Vampire.

                  THAT's that bloody game.
I've been aching for that for aaaaages. Damnit. I want One Piece Mansion, or whatever it's called. That's meant to be good too.

Are you serious? It was SONY who turned those down? Bastards... I thoguht it was the publishers deciding that it wouldn't be worth it, or something...
                  BAH! *imports*

The problem is that Sony have done all that and get no bad publicity (outside of forums like this). But Nintendo ban Animal Crossing and everyone hates them.

                    Double standards perhaps?

Yes I'm firmly against both banning any games for whatever reason. But, and surely someone will agree with me, is it fair that Sony can ban so many games and not have a bad word uttered about them?

SCEE blocked My Summer Vacation? ft: I'm pretty sure Bravo Music made it out over here.

GAMES TM should definately do an article about the different console developer approval process's and the games they've unfairly blocked. I think it would be very interesting.

I don't think SCEE have actually blocked anything, more turned down certain releases that you'd have thought they would have dealt with.

Final Fantasy X-2 was thought to be a dead cert for SCEE publishing yet EA have the European distribution rights as SCEE said they weren't interested in it.

Eidos published it on their now-defunct Fresh label.

Only reason I can think of is them trying to prevent a budget release rather than full price, but that doesn't really make sense.
was it not because of the packaging? I notice that the PAL release now has a normal packaging, with "Xplosive" merely as a sticker over the top. Whereas the original box art had "Xplosive Range" plastered across the front. I believe this was the reason scee originally blocked the release.
