After hearing this news, one word springs to mind

    Booooooooooo!!!

Sega Rally Revo was very uninspiring, and felt like it was trying to be Sega Rally rather than being Sega Rally. If they are using the Revo engine to re create the original tracks, then It might be worth a punt if the price is right.

Hey SOL if your reading can`t you knock some sense into Sega, telling them what people really want? I.E the original versions of Sega Rally 1/2, Daytona 1/2 and Scud Race.

Seriously it`s about time Sega get of their arses and start porting there Model 2/Model 3 gems onto the 360/PS3.

If not, It looks like we are all pinning our hopes on the new version of Demul to emulate Model 3 technology successfully. (Fingers crossed)

I thought Revo was great, it was a lot of fun, I loved the track texture deformation. I had some great games with it online with my mate.

Poor old Sega they just can't win. They announce a perfectly good Sega Rally game and people start moaning because it's not the original. Give em a break.

LOL - Yeah, maybe I'll go tell the Rally team to down tools :P

I'd wait and see before you write it off. For a start it's based on the arcade version of Rally 3, and whilst that's based on Revo, it received a lot of love and attention to hone it for arcade play.

Plus it does have a classic SEGA rally track in it (go look up the arcade version...) and if you don't crack a smile when you hear 'Game Over...Yeaaahhhhhhh!' then you should go find a new hobby.

Besides - as with every XBLA/PSN arcade game, you'll be able to try it before you buy it. Wait till you've seen it before you moan too heavily!

Any chance of a Steam release? I understand that this is a decision for Sega rather than Sumo Digital, just curious because Sumo's Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing saw a PC release.

Well I really liked the last PS3 Sega Rally game so as long as it sticks to that formula, brings in different tracks or old classics and keeps the quality of graphics rather than comprimise the quality to fit into 1GB or something and I'll be happy

Tell them to do something useful like bringing back Monty Mole or Percy the Potty Pigeon!

Not really, while SEGA have done nice things on XBLA(like VO II, OutRun , AB Climax ECT (stuff they'll never get credit for) This news is a bit of a Kick in the teeth

SEGA Rally Revo was like Daytona CCE all over again: Quite decent game in it's own right, just not fit to carry the classic IP name; SEGA Revo was not SEGA Rally and its showed in the gameplay
Revo lacked the classic music, the classic speech (Game Over Yeah) just wasn't anywhere nears as good, no true skill in time attacks or trying to shave 1000th of a sec off your time , due to the changeable terrain.

It was nice game with some wonderful effects (the snow was brilliant) It just wasn't SEGA Rally and it showed . I wished SEGA would have ported Model 2 and Model versions and put in Online and Link Up modes

It's a kick in the teeth to receive an updated version of Sega Rally Revo? Give me a break!

It was perfectly fit to carry the IP as it was a fantastic title in the Sega rally series. Although I have very fond memories of 1 & 2 in the Arcade, Revo is one of my favourites, and criminally underrated by fans and the critics.

If only Sega gave their Racing Studio another chance, we could have got a beautifully updated version of Daytona USA. Still, in some ways Sumo appear to be their spiritual successor, after the way they handled the Outrun 2 conversion.

Racing Studio was not updating Daytona USA but making a brand new IP racer with amazing tech, and porting a racer is very different to making and designing your own racer; Out Run 2 is so good because its AM#2

It didn't play like Rally, didn't handle like Rally and didn't look like SEGA Rally. It wasn't SEGA Rally. I thought Revo was pretty **** myself

I don't think it's currently on the cards to do a PC version sadly, but if it changes I'll pop in and give you the heads-up.

It was a surprise to us when ASR showed up on Steam too, whilst we did the PC version, we figured it would be an exclusively disk based release!

So did I. I found it to be very limited to play. Handling felt pretty weak. The groves in the road were a nice idea mind.

They were, and the way the snow builds up (the higher up you go) still looks quite brilliant today . The trouble was, the track deformation killed getting to completely know the track layout, and learn to shave off 1000th of a sec off your best times;Like one could in SEGA Rally 1 and II (after one got used to the DC dreadful handling). That to me was always the best part of SEGA Rally (and well most SEGA racers) and it totally lacing in Revo

The replay modes/camera angles, music were pretty **** too. Just not SEGA Rally at all

That's a pretty wild and unfair thing to say, what does it matter if the terrain changes? It's not random, since you are the one changing it. In time attack, you're racing alone so I fail to see how this is a valid argument at all -- In fact it's downright ridiculous! lol. This is definitely not a kick in the teeth, in fact it's a welcome addition, since SR3 is another good arcade game that doesn't have a port.

I do agree that Sega gets so much unjustified hate. Afterburner was a game many requested and never thought would be ported, but it was, plus the conversion was great. They went out of their way to make the port of VO4F region free, plus you can import the Asian version for non-import prices. I heard Bayonetta and Vanquish were really cool. Then the year before they did a great port of VOOT, with really good online, THEN went back and patched in additional features like spectator mode even though the port was already perfect.

Everyone wants something different it seems. I distinctly remember people requesting ports of all the above games, then they come out and people just complain 'oh I didn't want that game, I wanted THIS game!'. Can't please everyone, but I'd much rather get a port of an arcade game that doesn't have a port vs. a remake of one that has an arcade perfect release in some form.

I can't wait for Sega Racing Classic Online to come out, then everyone apparently finds out it's not as fun as they remember.
