Hard to feel sorry for them with all the **** they have been pulling recently. I'll only worry if i can't get a ps3 when ninokuni eventually comes out but till then couldn't give a toss as theres literally nothing out for it that i want apart from boku no natsuyasumi 3.

Don't connect to PSN - an firmware update will suck up your PS3 through your broadband until the dispute is resolved (if you're on dial-up, don't worry, it can't fit through a regular line).

Here's hoping no YLOD in the near future! I haven't been playing games on it much recently but I use it for all my film watching

Lol for gods sake don't give em ideas although it would be hillarious if it really happened.

God, it's like school kids having a fight. "My patent lawyers are better than yours!"
I know all big companies act like this, but when it affects consumers like this, it's not cool.

Am I wrong or this is the first time that a court bans importing of a console? Many trials asked for that until everything is setteled but I don't recall any actually being carried out.

Ironically it might aid sales as people impulse buy thinking its due to demand. They'll both settle in the end

It's probable going to benefit both companies in the long run as this follows on from Sony's recent claim against LG with the ITC concerning them breaking patents in mobile phone & blu-ray player infringements also worth about $15 million.

These things usually end up with some sort of cross licensing agreement which benefit both companies that are involved and also suspiciously sees increased sales for both companies.

You'd think the ITC would start to get suspicious of these things but they do seem keep happening between major multi-nationls with the Microsoft/TiVO one happening last month after a breakdown in negotiations between the two companies.

                    EDIT:
I should really point out that I'm highly suspicious whenever these things happen and that they've been done as a cheap way to break a deadlock between the involved companies. Of course that never seems to be proved in any of the cases and I may just be cynical about these things.

Sony banned from importing something into Europe, eh?

                      Never forget.

I thought Bluray technology was a group effort anyway? How can there be patent infringements between the partners who developed it together?

To be more precise, its about the way BR discs read and store data. Sony and Philips patented everything but that, probably

The accusations are pretty bs, but probably legit if you really look into it.

Its just looking for a tiny loophole to gain profit from. I think its pretty sad.

LG patented this just last year, among other ones

The liksang thing was a massive shame but I can't blame Sony for Bleem. Only natural to not want their games being played on other consoles. Especially a strong rival.
