Pre-orders?! Only thing that comes to mind is that it's stock for Game, Hmv or whoever that have paid up-front for the stock.
This whole thing is quite interesting, in a big multinationals throwing toys out of the pram type way. I wonder what it was that LG had done in the first place / where the roots of this are.
I suspect the reason it's ps3 and not Blu Ray players is to do with the way Blu Ray discs are used / read etc for Ps3 games, and not films (though this is purely speculation)
Continuing my speculation, maybe the LG patent states things about reading BD-Roms which would cover both game and film media.

edit: there's even a wikipedia page.
Well, screw Sony. Reading that it makes me smile when I read about how the hackers are slowly skinning them alive. Topple the ogre I say, greedy bastards.

So apparently the Dutch courts have ruled that as a result of this injunction they can seize PS3's from wherever they are as they effectively contain 'stolen property'.
Yes, this means they can in theory come into your home and take your PS3 away.
Can't see the Police actually being keen on doing that though.

Updates:
UPDATE 2: According to Dutch website InsideGamer.nl the court has lifted the prejudgement seizure order on the PlayStat…
Short version:
300,000 PS3's seized in Holland.
